Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I do love a series. Easy to read. Characters you know and are fond of. Usually a bit formulaic. Series tend to degrade, as characters no longer develop. New characters are brought in and then author feels compelled to keep you updated. By 13 or 15 or 20 books the plot has disappeared, and the book is just a character update. The “Cat Who” books suffered from this. And Hannah Swenson! That woman needs to move on with her life. 6 books in and Emily Brightwell has her characters well in hand. Definitely looking forward to the next six easy, pleasant reads. Always wary about what will (not) be happening by book 35!
This time I only suspected the killer and didn't know until the very end. I do enjoy this series. It's a light, easy read with likable characters and good plots.
Each book in the Mrs Jeffries series fills out the characters in that household and brings you closer to feeling included and wanting to experience more with them. It is a wonder how the author can complicate a situation and then bring it to a reasonable close.
Book arrived promptly and in very good condition. This is a wonderful Victorian Mystery series with interesting plots, lots of red herrings and delightful characters. It would make a great BBC or PBS series.
Love these Victorian mysteries. I've read just about all of them that I could find. if you know someone whose likes these kind of books recommend them, I know Mrs. J. would love you for it! :_)
I have loved every "Mrs. Jeffries" book I have read. I have read almost every book in the series over the years!! I am now starting to reading them again. They are delightful!! These books open a window into the past of Victorian Era life as experienced by all levels of London inhabitants.
The package came in a short amount of time. The book, although not in the shape I thought it would be in, is in pretty good shape for it's age. since I was missing this volume, I was okay with a bit if wear and light soiling.
A flower seller is brutally murdered and Inspector Witherspoon finds himself investigating a complex case of long lost children and greedy relatives. Naturally his domestic staff - led by the astute Mrs Jeffries are quickly on to the case with a certain amount of amusing rivalry between the men and the women.
I enjoyed this amusing and well written mystery with its tense and dangerous finale. I like the way the characters interact with some disputes and fallings out which are generally smoothed over before they can do too much harm.
If you like your crime stories with an historical background and without too much on the page violence then I recommend this series. They can be read in any order but it is interesting to see the way the characters and relationships develop if you read them in the order in which they were published.
