I would give this book a 4.5 star rating. It was much better than the first, due to more action and the storyline moving along quicker. Whilst there is some more world building, it is kept to a minimum. Therefore, you don't get the feeling of being bogged down by endless decriptions.
This book pretty much picks up where the first one left off. Flick just makes me laugh, and the relationship dynamic between Kara and Braeden can be extremely frustrating. Although, by the end of the book, it may have cleared up some. There is plenty of adventures and enough action to keep you turning the page. There was always something happening, and you get the story from both Kara's and Braeden's point of view. For me this just added to enjoyment of the book.
All in all, I was pleased that this book was far better than the first. There is also a big twist about three quarters of the way through the book. To me it was a huge turning point between two characters. I would recommend this second book, even if you thought the first book was a bit slow.
