2.0 out of 5 starsThe book is more for those into computers

This book isn’t straight to the point, or a simple guide on how to change your mind in 21 days, fix relationship, improve career etc... like it says on the cover. I found myself skipping pages hoping to get to a point where it may say, here what you should be doing or practicing within 21 days to change your mind for good.... It’s basically the authors life story from hitting rock bottom to choosing to better himself by not being alcoholic anymore and changing his habits which naturally made his wife not be so fed up with him. The book speaks more to those who are into computer hacking (or computer nerds/geeks) as it guides them on how to analyze your mind like you would a computer. I get the sense that the author wanted to tell a bunch of stories from his own life, famous inventors, mathematicians, scientist etc... then use their experiences to inspire others to want to change. But it doesn’t really give you a straight up guide like: “here’s what you should do to change your mind”. I personally would not recommend it to a friend unless I know their into computers.
5.0 out of 5 starsI'm a grumpy, stubborn person but this book hacked my mind anyway

Changing habits has got to be the hardest thing a person can do. Habits are so easy to form, I don't even notice I'm forming them until they're creating a real problem for me.
This book helped me see how to form habits that not only aren't holding me back, but are good! That might sound simple, but for me it isn't at all. I'm a grumpy, stubborn person, but I have to admit that once I got into the swing of making better personal choices it kind of started to be a hobby in and of itself.
It's funny how I know something to be true, but I don't want to act on it until someone says it to me in the right way, and that's exactly what I got out of this book.

3.0 out of 5 starsAverage self-help book with an IT flavor

This book starts off in the right track with a great hook (a technique writers use at the beginning of the book in order to bait and keep readers engaged into the rest of the text) but then after a few chapters you realize it is just the typical self-help book with nothing much different to offer than other works in the same genre.
As a computer scientist and working on the IT field for more than 20 years I found some stories quite entertaining and I could specially relate to the author when it comes to alcohol and drug abuse (something that I witnessed over and over when I was on college and saw many friends wasting their careers away).
Other than that, it is essentially a standard self-help book that promises to change your life within X days.
The difference is that the authors uses an approach biased on a hacking/computer programmer flavor with some IT-related stories sprinkled throughout the text.
Overall it is not bad. Actually if you belong to the IT field you may find it quite a refreshing and engaging read, but if you are already familiar with self-help books Im afraid you wont find anything earth-shattering here.
If this is your first self-help book and you belong to the IT are you may wanna rate it as a 4 stars.
For me it was just an average book, and being a self-help junkie myself I always have my expectation bar raised pretty high so normally I would have given it only 2 stars, but I've decided to bump it up to 3 stars because of the IT/hacking/programming stories and jargon which I've found quite entertaining not to say unusual (in a positive way) for the genre.
3.0 out of 5 stars(Audio Book) A good concept but...

This book was great because it speaks to me in a language I prefer (Computers/Programming). But I cannot stand the audio book quality. It sounds like the speaker is constantly vaping during readings which causes the audio to become foggy and then clear. Its more of an annoyance, but it makes it hard for me to listen, because the volume changes are hard on my ears when played in my car or on my phone.
Nonetheless it is a good read and caused my own paradigm shift.
At first this appeared to be a potentially useless book as the author doesn't seem to have credentials related to psychology and goes into being a recovering alcoholic (eye roll, sorry), BUT the exercises are helpful and even innovative at times. I like this book--it pretty much brings together all those mind tricks that you've read about in different places into one resource. It also attempts to hold the reader accountable, which is nice.
Really good book indeed. I'm a certified hypnosis and NLP practitioner, and meditation instructor, and can say that the content of this book is accurate, interesting, well researched and well written. The analogies are original, and the language used makes the reading fun. super!
Changing how you view your world, through your thoughts and actions. This book is a must read for everyone. If you totally are about your whole health and personal development. You should read this book. Building your mind to match your goals in life in so important and this book allowed me to see my holes; then correct them.

Ignore the negative reviews. Agreed, the information in this can be found in other books, but if you haven’t read other books then this is very useful. This book has helped me through some dark times. The reason this book is so anecdotal is so you can try to relate to some of the stories and their analogies. This book puts CBT into Lehman's terms so it’s easier to understand and to put into practice. If you’re struggling with anything from addiction to social anxiety or depression then I would say this is definitely worth a read. The stories are comical at times and gives an underwhelming approach to undergoing CBT - which is a good thing! You don’t feel like you’re being mentally overloaded with the gruelling journey of self help. This is an easy 5-Stars for me, and even if my review only helps one person get through this book and overcome any mental illness, then that is reward enough
This book contains nothing new that cannot be found in other books! It has more stories than useful information. It seemed as if the author was trying to fill out the book. It could have been half the length.

Easy but thought provoking read. How to hack your own mind with achievable goals. Would suggest reading it twice to get full benefits and doing the exercises.
It's the sort of book that you should have read whilst leaning to program... It's really useful with good, down to earth advice. The first book to make me laugh about mental illness.
