4.0 out of 5 stars The Series Just Keeps Getting Better and Better!

Book 5 in the series and it was better than the last 4. This time, Aurora, Dante, and the crazy vampire Giselle are together as a team trying to evade the agents sent to capture them and bring them in. Yes, there is some sexual tension between Aurora and Dante but the author doesn't take it too far. Neither does the author write truly graphic love/sex scenes. (Which I'm very glad because at my age, graphic sex scenes don't do a thing for me).

The author makes the Alaskan wilderness come alive so that you almost feel like you're there. So much so, that I had to pull a blanket up over my shoulders while I was reading. I like the fact that vampires can eat and enjoy their food. Thankfully, Valerie didn't play much of a part in this book as the way she is now being written, she is not someone I want to read about.

Aurora has matured quite a bit since book one for which I'm very glad to see. I could not have continued reading if she was just another Bella! Though I know that Jared will be caught someday, I hope it's soon. He is too evil to "live". I'd also like to see more Noel, Grandma, and mom in the next book/books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet ANOTHER Masterpiece of Complex, Original & Thrilling Piece of Art, Suspense and Wanton Romance

As usual, Nikki Jefford delivers a truly inspiring masterpiece. A word of warning to readers, hers IS a series of books best read chronologically, one really needs to start with the beginning and dedicate themselves to following this exhilarating journey with so many unanticipated twists and turns; Nikki keeps you guessing, but she also creates a diverse and complex character group so evolved that the reader finds themselves drawn to not one and not two, but several of these intoxicating individuals you cannot help but become infatuated with several.

Knowing that this is the next to last book in the series is sad and downright disheartening, it will be like saying goodbye to a group of VERY good friends, knowing full well that they will be in your thoughts often as situations and people remind you of them, because the TRUTH is, my friends; Nikki Jefford is such a Master of her craft that her characters are REAL PEOPLE in the readers mind—complex and evolved, genuine, fragile, emotive, full of vigor and humanity, the depth of character she builds into the people living in her world, the one she so generously creates and SHARES with us all—you just cannot help but hope for more.

So, Mrs. Author gal? Listen to the words I am whispering into your ear…………..spinoff….Spinoff…SPINoff….SPINOFF!!!!!!! Fane has become SUCH a phenomenal VIP (Vampire of Interest!), you could do tons with him before and after Sky. They could be a great couple to follow around the globe without the Vampire Hunting business………. Dante has TONS of potential, as does the ever-secretive Noel. You don’t HAVE to close out the characters themselves when you close down the Aurora Sky Vampire Hunter series. It could be the Matriarch of a tremendous family of series’ all tying back to the root and they don’t HAVE to be hunters, (well, Dante maybe…lol he IS sort of addicted to the mantra of track, hunt, kill, party, rest, repeat). Noel is interesting enough to tie back to a Coven of Witches, Aurora and Fane-Sky is the limit, James Bond & Q?

WhatEVER you do, I am breathless with anticipation for the next release of the Aurora Sky series, slightly petrified by the thought of it closing out, but ever-eager for the thrill of the ride because I KNOW that you will make it the ride of my lifetime. AFTER the end of the series, I cannot help but turn am eager/wanton eye toward the horizon in quest of your next grand thrill-ride to share with me (well, I suppose you DO let other folks read them to, but it FEELS like you write them just for me!) and I am fully confident that many countless hours of reading and/or listening pleasure will be gifted to me by the gift my LORD granted you when he gave you the heart and soul of not merely a “writer,” but one of the GREATS.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love Nikki's writing style

"Whiteout" by Nikki Jefford is another book that has been on my "I can't wait to read this book!" list. This is the 5th book in the series; I binge-read all the previous books a few months ago for the blog and was eagerly awaiting Whiteout because Ms. Jefford kept tearing apart Aurora and Fane (oh, Fane Donado, how I adore thee…) and I couldn't wait to see if she finally got them together in Whiteout. I'm not going into plot details here, but, let's just say, I had a grin on my face at certain parts of the story.

The book picks up right where Hunting Season left off, and Aurora, Dante, and Giselle are on the run through the wilds of Alaska. I love Nikki's writing style, which drips with sarcasm (example: "Good ol' Alaska—where guns and ammo could be purchased with less grief than a pack of cigarettes. Residents would sooner accept polygamy than gun control."), and I think Aurora is a kicka$$ heroine who has grown exponentially throughout the series. I found some of the action a little circuitous, but that might be because for a duration of reading, I was mentally screaming, "GET HER TO FANE. WHERE IS FANE?" or, "NO, DO NOT CONTINUE THROUGH THE WILDERNESS! FIND FANE!" I might have been yelling the same thing to Fane during his chapters: "WHY CAN'T YOU FIND AURORA?"

I was also surprised at how much I was annoyed with Dante in this book—like, to the point where I thought, who is this douche? That's a tribute to the writing, though, and shows how good Nikki Jefford is at character development. Dante is definitely struggling to accept his reality and it showed throughout the entire story. I enjoyed learning more about Fane's past and his family, and liked seeing him throw his family name around to get stuff done.

After reading Whiteout, I can safely say two things: I never, ever want to go to Alaska, because I abhor snow and I felt cold for the entire book and, the second thing, I can't wait for the final book and the showdown that I know is coming between our favorite vampires and the agency that created them. I'm dying for Melcher and Jared to go down in flames. They are some of the most despicable characters I've read and I absolutely loathe them (again, great writing) so I am chomping at the bit for their demise!

Title: Whiteout
Series: Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter (#5)
Author: Nikki Jefford
From: Amazon
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Release Date: 14th October 2014
Challenges: Summer COYER 2016, 2016 Read the Books You Buy, 2016 Prequel & Sequel Challenge (2 points)
Links: Goodreads - Amazon
Synopsis (from Goodreads): Life on the run is no winter picnic, especially when Aurora’s partner sees himself as the sheriff, not the outlaw. It’s a cat and mouse game across the Last Frontier with agents and vampires out for revenge. Aurora has never fought so hard to stay alive, even as each day takes her further away from Fane. Will they ever be reunited? Or is Aurora destined to remain in Alaska with Dante forever?

Whiteout is the 5th book of the Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter series and should not be read as a standalone. The plot relies heavily on events in the past books as well as revolving around already established characters. This review may contain spoilers for the previous books in the series.

This series! There is just something about it that completely draws the reader in and has certainly left me feeling a bit addicted! The characters make mistakes and have to deal with them, the plot is gritty and in places a little dark, and it just all works together to form a book where you're not too sure quite how things will work out in the end.

Aurora's love life seemed to finally work itself out, even if there was very little doubt about which way she'd go at the end of Hunting Season. Of the two guys the one that I've preferred from the beginning (because lets face it there's always one!) grew on me even more whereas the other one just grated on me more than he had before. Sorry avoiding names for spoiler reasons!

There was plenty of action in this book and Aurora once again proved that she didn't need anyone there to protect her, she was fully able to protect herself. On top of that she seemed to be coming to terms with her new status as a vampire and gave Dante a couple of stern talking tos on the subject!

I missed Noel though! But it did get made up for slightly by Fane's POV (though the book was mostly from Aurora's POV) and the introduction of his fantastic cousin! The cast was definitely small in this book though!

I got taken by surprise by this book a couple of times and I was on the edge of my seat. Definitely a great read!

I had this book on pre order as soon as I was able. Had to do a bit of re -reading of book 4 to remember where the last instalment finished but once back on track I fell back into the story. I really enjoy this series . The author has made some great character's and you can't help but love them. If you have never tried any of Nikki's books I would highly recommend you give them a go. My only issue is that once I start reading them I can't put them down so this one was over in no time. Ha ho will have to wait for the next one.
