I decided to go ahead and read the 2nd book of this series even though I didn't really get all that invested in the 1st book. I have to say now that after the 1st book, the 2nd really wasn't that much better. I found myself skipping pages and pages of boring details that didn't do anything to advance the story just to get to the end again and be left hanging. It's not really a cliffhanger but things aren't wrapped up in either of the books and you're left with a lot of nothing. I suppose if that was the last thing I had to read, it would be something, but overall, I seriously doubt I'll bother moving beyond to books 3 and 4.
The characters just didn't resonate that well with me. It's not that they're not believable, but there's just too much minutiae that is irrelevant that I got bored with the story.
