If you are a woman who read Robinson Cruesoe and Deux Ans de Vacances in your childhood and liked them, I guarantee that you will love this novel. This is one of the few real adventure romance novels for women that I ever read in my life. I got captivated in the story from the beginning and could not pause for almost two hours. I felt as though I was actually experiencing the adventure myself. It was really empathizing. After Chapter 13, however, there were some parts that I felt a little bit too lengthy, because I would not hesitate in making the final selection of a man whom I would go with. I will not tell you any more about it, because I don't want you to know what will happen. A great work!
I stumbled across this, and bought it as a lark, never having read a “romance” novel before. Actually, never having read an “erotic” novel since “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” many (too many) years ago. After the first few pages, I was prepared to quit, due to a few grammatical and typographical and logical errors . . . but actually the writing was compelling enough that I kept going, Kind of a silly story, and a bit predictable, but still, a fun read, even if you don’t believe in hot, sexy, female pirates. The bit about the wall in London was interesting. I’ll be researching that to see if that actually happened, and to learn more about it. All in all, a sexy, fun read.
Wow Was Ruby ahead of her time! Great adventurous times for this female private who also finds love along the way. My only complaint is that this book is listed as BWWM....Ruby clearly is not a black woman, I think, because she gets a little upset at Max's interest in the dark skinned beauties of the islands.
A new author for me, written from character point of view, black heroine on the cover has green eyes, but the book was well written! Engrossing story about a female pirate who is no pushover with three men courting her affections.
This was an exciting and adventurous read. However my first complaint is that it was confusing moving chapter to chapter at certain points in the book. Perhaps this was once several books and the author decided to make it into one? Also, there are some spots where it needs to be edited. But not too much of a distraction. I really enjoyed the adventures of Ruby. My second complaint is that I searched for BWWM, and this book came up, although I don't recall a physical description for Ruby, just the other pirates she became involved with. Good book overall.
I got this book on kindle unlimited after seeing only 4 and 5 stars reviews. however after reading it, I would not recommend this book if you have to pay for it. The story is interesting but seriously underdeveloped, with huge breaks in some parts. On other side there are at least 2 chapters that are just complete summaries of prior chapters. So annoying! Seemed like the author combined series of this book into one but forgot to remove those summary chapters and epilogue in the middle of the book. The heroine is a a slut and changes her mind from its ok to sleep around as I am a pirate to I am avoiding everyone, because it's uncomfortable I slept with three powerful men. Just make up your mind and stick to it, Ruby! Little slips in story line keep making you re read the passage: like there were only 4 of them on Ryan's small boat, and then in next passage there is a crew that's fixing the boat while they search for treasure. Might have given it 3 stars, even after all of the above, but it needs serious editing, so the stars got knocked down to two.
What a wonderful read! Purely by Chance I stumbled across this truly fantastic story! I'm a big fan of romane, erotica and history. Most of all, however, I love stories that are well written and with this story, I hit gold. It's truly beautifully written, the story itself is well worth reading and will stay with you long after you've finished the last sentence.
