5.0 out of 5 stars Most fun of the series

I've read the entire Masters of the Shadowlands series (to Book 13), but this is my favorite, which I keep coming back to and re-reading with delight.

I'd agree that as a series, the plot of these stories becomes a little repetitive. As this is early in the series, it didn't detract from my enjoyment. I loved the relationship between Gabi and Marcus, and seeing other characters I've come to think of as old friends now through the series was fun. I'd also agree that Gabi is over the top in her bratty behavior, but that's the role she's playing, for a very good reason. Marcus does realize her behavior isn't consistent, and I liked the way he reacted, which was smart and measured and in character.

There are some absolute stand-out scenes in this book: the figging, the pursuit through the Shadowlands, the doggie punishment. They're wonderful to read - the author has such an amazing imagination. There are scenes like this throughout the series, but the ones in this book stand out in my mind because of the warmth of the relationship between Gabi and Marcus, which I didn't always feel in some of the other books.

On the whole, I really enjoyed this series, but this is my favorite and I will definitely keep reading and recommending this author.

4 ⭐️

I’ve enjoyed this series and after taking a break decided to return with Make Me, Sir. I must admit that the blurb had me second guessing myself as I wasn’t really looking forward to a put on bratty mouthy sub, but thus was so much more than I anticipated. It held a lot of zinger one liners that had me laughing out loud.

I really enjoyed Gabi. She is so brave, no matter how much she was scared she kept going back in the attempt for the greater good. Her handler was a piece of work and I’m glad he got what was coming to him. She was naturally submissive but also had the ability to mouth off and get herself into trouble. Sometimes on purpose and sometimes not. Marcus was a good fit. I liked his southern charm and loved seeing him interact with his grandparents. Although the whole crazy sub thinks she’s mine Is getting old and you would think for guys who watch and see so much, they definitely miss these women.

Glad I came back to this series as it is really enjoyable. I can’t wait for Raoul’s and Sams stories.

With submissive being taken from clubs and one of them being her friend Gabrielle sees that she can help by being bait in a BDSM club – Shadowlands.
After talking to the owner, she gets taken on as a trainee – the problem is she finds herself not wanting to be the brat she needs to be to get noticed by the kidnappers – she wants to submit to Master Marcus.
Marcus can see that even though Gabrielle is being a brat with a smart mouth when she submits it’s beautiful, but the more he sees Gabrielle the more he realises that she’s not the same as he’s ex-wife, at times it’s almost like she’s fighting with herself to make sure she keeps up the bratty behaviour.
Marcus can’t help himself falling for Gabrielle, even with some of her bratty behaviour. When Gabrielle goes missing Marcus knows there is no one else for him. When he finds out that Gabrielle has decided that he doesn’t want her without talking to him, Marcus is going to make sure she listens to what he wants, not what she thinks he wants.

Gabrielle Renard is getting paid to be a brat....fun stuff! She's volunteered to be a decoy in an undercover FBI operation that's trying to break up a human trafficking ring. Master Marcus Atherton is trainee coordinator at Shadowlands. Master Z has asked Marcus to personally oversee Gabi's training. The little brat gives him a run for his money. While he thought he only wanted well behaved, complaint submissives, Gabi is definitely changing his mind. Marcus is frustrated by trying to get inside her head to find out what makes her tick so he carries out a plan that ends up with shocking results. While in subspace Gabi reveals her real job and her undercover assignment. Now most of the Shadowlands Masters are onboard with the mission. Unfortunately things don't go according to plan and not only is Gabi taken but so is Jessica. Now it's a race against the click to rescue them. Once all is said and done Gabi is determined to walk away but Marcus is jyst as determined to keep her by his side. Guess who wins?

3.0 out of 5 stars Marcus is southern?

I love this series. I can't get enough. I love the Shadowlands Masters. However, Marcus seems like a caricature to me. The Southern drawl seems fake. He says things like, "I do believe..." as in "I do believe that might have been a mistake" and "I do believe you'll find a private club a mite different", "I do believe I asked you a question", "I do believe I could use some thick nylon rope." and "You can act as ornery as you like, "You best be ready.."..Sugar." Is this really how southern men talk? It gets a bit grating. He calls himself, in his own head, by his own last name. Weird. Other than that, those Masters are HOT. The girls are a bit contrived too. They're all "sassy" and Master Z calls them all "little one." Even the big ones. LOL I think the author tries too hard to make them not perfectly gorgeous and have the Masters love them anyway. There's the chunky ones, and the too-big breasted ones, and the short and skinny ones, and the enormous amazon ones. A master for every type. Gabi in this story is the "not pretty" one. That's exactly how the author talks about her. Marcus also notices she's "not pretty" but of course, in the end, he finds her more beautiful than he thought. It's a fantasy. Suspend your disbelief. Enjoy it for what it is. Any suggestions for something like this but less tame.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best yet.

No plot spoilers
There are a couple of potential triggers relating to past rape.
There is copious amounts of kinky sex and some swearing.
The characterisation is good, Ms Sinclair undoubtedly builds a world populated by strong characters, with a great plotline. This book is my favourite mainly because despite the extreme storyline Marcus and Gabi are excellent and the supporting characters are well crafted too.
Be aware that Shadowlands is no fairy tale fantasy about D/s, it's more concerned with appropriate punishment for transgressions. And there would seem to be endlessly devious punishments for those transgressions. That said, it's not a dark series, but it certainly isn't light and fluffy either. I have all of the books in the series and am now in the middle of a re-read, so obviously I would recommend the series.

Yet another fab book by Cherise Sinclair....I bow down at your feet!!

Across several BDSM clubs throughout the area bratty subs are being kidnapped to be sold as slaves to sadist men. The FBI have several agents undercover in the local clubs trying to flush out the gang responsible but as yet are not having much luck.

Gabrielle is a victim specialist who volunteers to go undercover as one of her friends is one of the subs that has been taken. Desperate to help with a history in BDSM clubs, albeit limited and several years ago in college, the FBI take Gabi on and put her in the Shadowlands. Master Z is sworn to secrecy about the undercover operation and knowing none of the other master would put up with a truly bratty sub for long her asks master Marcus to take her on as a trainee for a month.

Marcus doesn't like bratty subs but decides to give Gabi a chance. Her brattiness tries the patience of a saint but he doesn't know to start with that most of it is an act...will he tame her and her heart!

One of the best books of the series, gripped with emotion and so funny in places I was re-reading the paragraphs. Recommended book and series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it!

I have read all the previousbooks in the series and will be reading the next one. For me this one was one of the best ones. I liked the tale and the telling. I enjoyed the plot and the erotica. The characters we already know are developing nicely and becoming more real ( within the slightly unreal context) and the new characters are enjoyably woven into the story. The sex scenes are, for me, erotic, well written and pushes my own boundaries (in fantasy at least) and the thriller element was good. I would recommend reading these books in series order, as I am not sure that you would get as much out of this book without knowing the other stories but it could stand alone. I thought that as the series went on I would feel it got very samey and predicatable but this book has changed my mind. I really lliked it - a lot. Well worth the money!

I'm glad that as the series continues the books get longer. This book starts the ongoing story of the Harvest Association but centres around Shadowlands. Gabi is a strong, bratty woman who easily falls into submission but problem is she is meant to be naughty and play up so that the Spotter will chose her for as a target. The more time she spends at Shadowlands the harder it is to rebel and the Masters can see something is not quite right and intend on finding out. This book introduces the FBI agents who feature more in future books. The description of the characters and the environment is excellent, so much so that I have a picture in my head of what Shadowlands looks like and what the Masters and their subs and the Shadowkittens all look like. The story is steamy and I couldn't get enough so moved on to the next book straight away. I'm glad there's no pathetic naming of body parts, no 'womanhood' 'hotness' type of description, so expect to read exactly what the author means :-) There's an exciting mix of thriller, romance, and steamy sex.

I am in love with master Marcus, oh my gosh! His handsomeness and sexiness just oozes of the pages, and I love his southern accent. Very entertaining story with him and Gabi, made me smile and laugh many times throughout. Lots of hot sex and intriguing, exciting storyline. I think this is my favorite in the Shadowlands series, and Marcus is definitely my favorite dom!
