Well it's really a very creepy book, that's for certain! Somewhere, somehow, over and above there's hope strength and warmth as well. Violence, fear, cruelty and a dark power winds it way through this tale of a detective ( Conrad Ellis ) in searches of a killer, a killer that doesn't seem to leave any clues, at least clues like any abnormal killer would leave. Among the dead are a group of paranormal scientific investigators. There bodies, killed and mutilated once they've . Projected themselves into the vast astral plain. Someone's killing, not something, it has to be someone! Inspite of what the other psychic's may think, feel or say! There is no all powerful overmind, dark or otherwise as far a Conrad Ellis ( lead detective) is concerned.
Well as I say it's creepy but good. It's conceptually very well written, with engaging characters. Unfortunately it does suffer from what feels like autocorrect spelling problems. I have read and enjoyed several of Walker's offerings, in fact I picked this mostly on the strength of his name. As such there where times I wondered if it was another Robert W Walker, but the writting was crisp, creative and imaginative, so it had to be written by the original Robert W Walker himself. So it must either be a new keyboard, a new program or a new auto correct program because I'm just not going to believe it's the Dark Overmind!
