5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book of the Joe Grey Mystery Series.

The book was in great condition. Delivery prompt. I am currently re-reading the Joe Grey Mysteries from the beginning after several years. It was in this book that Joe & Dulcie met up with the kit. The Cats Dialogue is much more in depth and Joe with his witty humor. And the Cat's thoughts and feelings are so much warmer than in the later books. The description of the little starving orphaned rag-a-muffin kitten, with her skinny body, long fluffy tail, and legs with hair pantaloons is adorable any cat fan will surly love this feline mystery. In my opinion the best book of the series. A good investment!

Anyone who has read even one book in the Joe grey mysteries know there's lots happening to keep the interest of the reader. And with a lot of never do well family members gathered for a funeral, we have murder and mayhem galore. In this book we have another special cat and two large puppies added to the animal mixture. naturally our main characters are involved and safe partly because of our animals. The main police evidence is found by the cats and given to
Theilathe police. This is definitely a good cozy mystery to curl up with.

Beginning with the first book in the Joe Grey Mystery series, the author has faithfully and continually created fiction that becomes real in the reading of it. The animals and humans are believable and entertaining--they could be your next-door neighbors. The mystery to me is how she can keep them coming fresh and new each time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joe Gray and Dulcie learn more about themselves

In the midst of a thick fog Joe Gray is hunting alone after an earthquake has hit the area when he is robbed of his prey by a falling automobile. On investigating the wreck he finds a dead driver and a cut brake line, suspicious noises force him to move away from it and on his retreat he is surprised by what at first appear to be ferocious hounds. These turn out to be overgrown boisterous puppies which he takes to Clyde to deal with. Joe is concerned enough about the crash to contact Max Harper (much to Clyde's annoyance) and he finds out that the cut brake line has disappeared. Dulcie, meanwhile, has her own investigation going. This is into recently widowed Lucinda, who is overun by the relatives of her late husband while they await the funeral. The two investigations seem to run together and on listening in to conversations at Lucinda's home they hear stories from the distant past which concern shape-shifters and have a bearing on their own history. A spate of shop lifting and more murders baffle the community as it undergoes more aftershocks. Feral cats appear in the hills and one in particular has a strange effect on Dulcie, this bedraggled but beautiful little cat is very wary of both Joe & Dulcie but helps to find some answers. I love the way Ms Murphy interweaves the lives of the animals and their humans whilst holding your attention until the very last word. All this without being in the least whimsical.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joe Gray and Dulcie excel themselves!

Joe Gray has a shocking experience in the fog which leads to another exciting adventure. Joe's human partner Clyde is not amused when Joe pokes his nose into Sheriff Max Harper's investigation into an 'apparent' auto accident (aided and abetted by Dulcie of course). Joe finds two overgrown, underfed pups at the scene of the accident and, unable to leave the boisterous dogs to their fate, takes them home to Clyde. In trying to train the pups, Clyde has an embarrassing happening in the middle of town, which does not endear Joe to him. Dulcie, meanwhile, has become interested in Lucinda and her guests. They have moved in on Lucinda after the death of her husband in a boating accident, supposedly to attend his funeral and Dulcie finds their behaviour very sinister. This book is set against a background of minor earthquakes which introduces another young cat into the village. This very bedraggled but beautiful being plays her part in the unravelling of the sometimes tortuous plot. Lucinda and some of her guests tell ancient Celtic stories which help to explain a little more about Joe and Dulcie, this occasionally mystical tale grips the imagination and with the regulars of Clyde, Wilma and Charlie Getz provides a very enjoyable read.
