I hadn't realized that books 5 and 6 of this series existed until remembered that I had enjoyed 2 of the first 4 quite a bit. I checked and found this one. Sadly, while I love Miranda and Chase as well as Victor and his vixen, the other characters have largely been "meh" for me due to the way the characters developed and this one ended up being another "meh" tale.
I can't really put a strong finger on why. I do know that the wolf was a bit too much of a rogue for me to feel a lot of empathy with him. Even his main companion points out that he's not exactly a wonderful man. The doe of this tale is much better fleshed out as a character and I did like her, only to be disappointed by how quickly she falls for the wolf. It never felt right to me.
It's still a fun tale, with a lot of the humor and verve that got me to love the first book. I just didn't find enough for me to give this one a 4 star rating.
