5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Read

What a delightful read!!! The book is filled with intrigue and romance. You know who the villain is right from the start, but figuring out how to prove it makes for an interesting read!

I liked Dirk right from the first book in the series. He seemed so deep. He wasn't a frivolous charmer like his friends. There was more to him. In this book, we finally find out his real identity and his history.

Lady Isobel MacKenzie is brave and intelligent. When she is attacked by her future brother-in-law, she flees the castle during a snow storm. Luckily, she is rescued by Dirk who takes her to his castle to keep her safe until he can return her to her brother's home.

There is all sorts of mayhem going on. Somebody is bent on killing Dirk and keeping him from his rightful place as Laird of the clan. Dirk knows who it is, but has no proof. Isobel wants to keep him safe and vows to spend time with the villain to find out their plans.

Then, aside from the attempts on Dirk's life, there is the issue of a possible clan war because of Dirk taking Isobel to his home rather than returning her to the home of her betrothed or her brother.

The book is filled with action.

What can I say? Vonda Sinclair has done it again. Her tales invoke the love and admiration of family heritage AND honor. This book brings together a family torn apart be an evil and despicable stepmother. Dirk begins his trek back home after years of absence to hopefully see his father who has fallen ill. Little does he know that a chance rescue of a Lady and her maid would begin the fight for his life and future within a clan that needs his guidance and strength to overcome so many wrongs perpetrated be his evil stepmother. The journey is fraught with perils only a strong leader can surmount. You will love this book and the entire series will entrance you! A trek through the lives of honorable men and women who challenge the odds to conquer danger and twisted plots. Your heart will be taken by the characters so vividly portrayed as well as by the depth of passion and honor that defines a leader of the era... Take the journey... see for yourself what awaits... you will be very glad you did!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Brave Highlander (Highland Adventure 3)

I give this a 4.5 stars. As another review said if you like the bedroom scenes they do not happen until about 2/3's of the way thru on this one. I kind of figure that out from the first since you had to deal with her being betrothed to someone else. Dirk is of course different from the heroes in the first 2 books, as he does not really know how to talk to women. He has bedded a lot of them, but never really talked to them. He is more the silent type. In one scene where Isobel is trying to get him to take notice or her, he is basically just answering her with one word. He is jealous of his friend Rebbie because he talks to her, and is charming, where Dirk doesn't know how to act around her. The fact that he can not have her, because she is betrothed to another, only makes it worse. It is kind of cute how backward he feels around her. Isobel ran from her betroths home because his brother tried to rape her while her betroth was away. She has no intention of going back to him. She is extremely attracted to Dirk, and constantly puts his honor to the test, since he doesn't want to touch her while there is still a chance her brother will force her to go back to her betroth Torrin who is in book 5. Plus with trying to take his rightful place as chief of the clan, he does not want to start a war with his ally. It is still a good fast read, and a good story. However a few of the villains in this story get away, and at one of them are not taken care of for at least a few books since it mentions him in the description of book 5. Book 6 is not out yet, so do not know if Haldane will be in it or not. For such a young villain it would seem he gets away a lot.

It is series like these where I wish all the books were already out, as I do not want to have to wait for the rest. At the end of this book it says there are stories for Rebbie and others. So book 6 will hopefully be about him, and then maybe she will do a story about Isobel's brother Cryus, since book 4 is Seona and Keegan, and book 5 is Jessie and Torrin.

Sex content medium/high.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put this adventure down!

Dirk MacLerie is a man of few words. He is heroic, big, strong and handsome, but all is not as it seems.
Lady Isobel MacKenzie, a beautiful young widow, who is now betrothed to another Highland Chief, runs away after a terrible occurence and whilst in a deadly snow storm, meets up with Dirk who with his friend Rebbie saves her and her maid's lives.
From the moment this twist of fate happens, they are struck by each other, rembering each other from their past and more to the point, remembering what they once felt for each other.
This is one of my favourites in the Highland Adventure series because the characters are both believable and likeable. The camaraderie between all the Highland cousins is wonderful and emotional at times, and there are dark deeds, plots to murder, hate and danger in this wonderfully delicious romantic adventure. New and old characters emerge, ones you love and one's that once you get to know, you can't wait for their story to be told.
Vonda's expertise in capturing one's attention is endless. She is a masterful wordsmith, whose books draw you in and make you wish you never had to leave. I absolutely loved it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fantastic story by Vonda Sinclair!

Every book I read and reread by Vonda Sinclair reminds me again what a talented author she is. I absolutely love the Highland Adventure series, it is absolutely the best highland romance series I have had the pleasure to read.
I had almost forgotten the delights of Dirk and Isobel's story. It truly is a tale of overcoming adversity. Poor Isobel, widowed already is forced to defend herself against her future brother in law and flee the home of her betrothed. It is by chance that herself and her faithful maid cross paths with Dirk, Rebbie and a man servant. Dirk is returning to his home after a long absence after his step mother repeatedly tried to kill him when he was a child.
Both have so much to overcome and whilst Dirk is certain he should honour Isobel and not take her as he wishes eventually they come together.
Theirs is a love match and they both seem so very suited to one another.
I truly hope the series continues, there are characters that stir me that I would love to see more of.
Again I am recommending these books to EVERYONE!! I promise you will not be disappointed!
