Sarah's Premonition is an awesome book and more than anything it sends a really important message to readers. This is a book that tells the story of a group of people whose lives would not have turned out the way it did if one person did not make the right decision.
This book has a great group of characters, and although there are two main characters, the supporting characters were just as important to make this book as great as it is.
Sarah was very young when this takes place. She is a young 17 years old when she runs away from a foster home to avoid getting hurt mentally and physically. All her life up to this point is spent with a mother who was always hooked to heroin and just did not care about anything but that next fix. One day Sarah is walking home and sees the coroner wheeling her mother out of their apartment as she had overdosed. This and the fact she never knew who her father was, she went into foster care, where she went to a couple of different ones, and there were problems where the men thought they should get something from her for taking care of her.
After she ran away she still attended school and would go to the park afterwards. Sarah was fortunate enough to meet a young wonderful caring mother of two little girls, and though nothing was ever said, the little girls loved Sarah and she loved them too. Sarah knew the woman had a feeling about her being homeless, and she would bring her food, and would ask her to go home with her to help with her little daughters. The woman was kind to Sarah and took her under her wing. On one of the days she was there to help, the mother was hit by a car. The little girls were now motherless and their father was devastated. He asked Sarah to become the girl's live in Nanny so they would be well taken care of, and he would have the help he needed to make sure his little girls were well taken care of.
Shortly after this happened, one morning, Sarah was asked to bring the girls to their Dad's work office so he could take the younger one to get her shots. Sarah gets this deep feeling of sadness, and the closer she gets to the man's office the stronger the feeling of dread hits her. Knowing she may get fired for not following the Dad's order, she takes the little girls home. She immediately calls their Dad and he is so glad she did not bring the children and he tells her there is something in the office for her. Then the call is cut off and on the television she sees the Twin Towers have been destroyed and he was in one of them.
What Sarah did not notice is that there was a young man on his way to the first day on the job at the Twin Towers. When he saw Sarah he was struck by her beauty and how the children and her looked so beautiful together. He feels like he has to get her phone number but he hears a big explosion type sound and he turns around when the first plane hits, when he turns back around Sarah is gone. He feels desperate to find her, she saved his life.
Sarah has been going to college, but after what happens she has been asked to adopt the children and love them and care for them so they do not go into foster care. There is enough money and trust funds for both girls. Of course she adopts them and they learn how to schedule their needs around each other-Sarah only takes classes while the children are in day care and then in school. She was so grateful when she found out that these wonderful people had everything arranged for their girls and her also if something happened.
Several years later after all this time and looking for her everywhere, Adam sees her! He approaches her at a book signing as she now is a published author. After what happened, Adam changed his major to become a social worker for children placed in foster care. He is a great worker and makes sure all the kids he places are placed into a safe caring environment. He is known as the enforcer because if he finds people just wanting a check and not really a good family fit, he puts them on a list.
Adam lets Sarah know about how she saved his life all those years ago and that he has been looking for her! Sarah is scared to take a chance as she has to think of the girls, not just herself. Although she is scared he keeps telling her he just wants to take her to lunch and so she agrees. Sarah tells Adam up front that she and the girls are a package deal.
What will happen now?
Will they get together?
What do the girls think about Adam?
What does Adam do for Sarah that is the best thing to happen to her besides the girls and himself?
You will have to read the story to find out! This book was trying to imply that no matter how dark life can get, one has to do the best they can for themselves, as we really only have ourselves to do so, it has to come from our own strength, and desire to want to change things. I loved this book, and it was nice to read a book with a message that we can all understand and some of us even relate to.
I gave this book 5*****beautiful stars, and I can't wait to read more by this author!
