I bought this for my wife, a recovering formon. She got a kick out of it (she was always vanilla Mormon, but there are more than a few parallels between their lives), and after a few years I finally picked it up. What a fun ride.
Like others have noted, it's lighter fare. (This is not Under the Banner of Heaven.) But the conversational style and the humor landed for me. It was appropriate to her journey, which was emotional, but thankfully not life threatening. (This is not Under the Banner of Heaven.) Most importantly, her humor is a fundamental part of how she coped and ultimately found herself.
