3.0 out of 5 stars Tragedies of war

This was an in-depth short history about the sinking of the Lusitania prior to world war two. While it did give an excellent account of the sinking I didn't think it did as good a job on the details of the fallout.

This is a good book on the history of the Lusitania and it is easy to read and follow. A good read for a weekend.

Nothing but disconnected narratives from official documents not worth the time to read it. This is not worth the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Big Story Deserves More Depth

A sort collection of facts and the history surrounding the sinking of the Lusitania by German U-Boat prior to World War One makes an interesting a vital story. This book was not particularly scholarly in its' approach to history, but it presented the salient facts about this disaster in a believable fashion. The historic setting of this tragedy is the backdrop for this account that really played an enormous role in American History. It really was the catalyst that propelled America into the war, and I think it missed an opportunity to capitalize on the significance of the event. I think this event has a far larger story than is recorded in this book, but it is still an interesting read that records the highlights reasonably well.

This short book contains everything I wanted to know about the Lusitania. I did not want to read a lengthy book describing world events and WWI. I flew though it in two sittings and found it to be a nice assembly of quotes and background information.

Very thin. Decent detail on the boat , the sailing , with several passenger stories of those that perished and some that survived.

But little historical context of it's place in W W 1.
