For true crime fans, I mean this in the best possible way. Bitter Blood is one of the most insane tales you’ll ever read, save for, perhaps, The Galapagos Experiment: Satan Came to Eden. and actually, I take that back because it occurred 50+ years before. Bitter Blood? Mid 80s.
From the power of denial to the way troubled people can ultimately feed off the insanity of one another... and some southern fried homicide (& incest) thrown in for good measure, this is one story that will blow your mind—no pun intended.
One thing I wish we knew was where the ‘key players’ are, nearly 35 years later. One wonders if Susie Lynch’s family members have come to accept her involvement or if there’s still a significant amount of denial. It’s tragic & sad to think about John & Jim Lynch & all the people (hi, next door neighbors?!) who failed them. If you take away nothing else, let this story serve as a warning: if someone admits to hitting their child so hard, s/he sends him flying across the room, call the police ASAP. There’s plenty more I could say & I do not place blame solely on the neighbors, but sometimes meddling is okay. You never know if your actions may save a life.
Those 2 boys deserved so much more. :(
