Mr. Stephens' second book in the series puts Poe, Alana, and Foxx right in the middle of the next big murder on Maui. Add Alana's sister, Hani, as well as several other new characters, including Maui the dog, and things heat up quickly. Poe and Alan's relationship is threatened, and while they try to determine whether or not they have a future together, Poe must solve more than one murder.
Along the way, many people are threatened and/or hurt, but a lot of team work again solves all of the mysteries. If you pay close attention, you will know who the "had guys" are, but some of the reasons they act as they do are less obvious. Overall, Mr. Stephens does a good job of telling this story, giving the reader just enough information to jump to some false conclusions, but ultimately to discover as Poe does, who was responsible.
As in the Fire book, a couple of editing errors jumped out, such as Foxx being referred to as Fox, and another where a large part of a sentence was printed twice, making for some confusion. Again, these are not the worst I have seen, but suggest that one more proofreading could be done before publishing.
I recommend the series to those who enjoy mysteries, as well as reading about the beautiful island of Maui!
