And, man does it smart when you stop getting those "Christmas presents in May, June, July etcetera". However, I don't do it necessarily to please only myself, but my daughter as well. I was neglected and made to feel inferior to my younger sister. It is still happening. I feel this book really held a mirror up to my face. I have come such a long way to stop shopping. But, there is always the sporadic relapse. I know I have to restart all over again. It is improving more and more. This book showed me a side of myself that I really don't want to face. It helps not only that I am/was a shopaholic but why I am programmed WRONG.
When I got this book in the mail I didn’t realize how small it actually was, it’s like a little booklet. Though I did enjoy it, I wish it was much longer. There are sentence structure and grammar errors which is aggravating, but it does shed some light on how you can manage your shopping addiction, briefly. It targets mostly on what a shopping addiction is, which, if we suffer from, we know already. It should focus more on how to concur it. Honestly a majority of this book just made me want to shop more with all the talk about how fun it is and how good it can make you feel.. lol. If you’re REALLY looking for help I’d suggest doing more research, scheduling an appointment with a professional, or a self-help group. Good luck!
This book aims to help you evaluate whether or not you are a shopaholic. Why shopping appeals to people in general is covered, and the point at which it becomes a problem is discussed. Of course shopping to excess is a fairly modern problem and this book places a lot of the blame on social media, celebrity obsession, and the bad behavior shown on reality television. Basic tips on how to manage the addiction are covered, but this book is more of a reflection on the issue in general, than a real “cure”.
I used to be a shopping addict, I used to got there three or four times a week and used to sped almost all my incomes in clothes that maybe I just used once. I really wanted to change that as I had lot of debts and my life was completely materialist. A friend of mine urged me to read about this diction, but I wasn't so sure about it. So I decided to look for some help, and I found this book! It has definitely change my life! Jeffrey Powell did a great job here! Thanks a lot for your help!
