Thilliez is one of my favourite French thriller writers, along with Grange (a bit uneven but sometimes brilliant as in Serment des Limbes) and Giebel. He's produced some great stuff, including the Sharko thrillers, and L'Anneau de Moebius, which almost makes (a sort of) time travel produce something with a satisfactory conclusion. But this isn't one of his best, at least in my view. A young couple who are addicted to treasure-hunt type games eventually gain entry to the most sought after game of all, the legendary Paranoia. The action takes place in a cavernous abandoned mental hospital, where a strange cast of characters is assembled. Obviously, lots of disturbing things happen, people have lapses of memory, seem to be drugged or hallucinating, or have strange half-memories of being in the hospital before. A background story, seemingly at first unconnected, is that of the escape of a murderer of 8 people in a refuge for walkers. The narration has a sort of hallucinatory air, which makes it hard to follow in places (probably deliberately). What's really happening? Well, I can't tell you that without completely spoiling the story. Not my favourite Thilliez, but it has some good parts and a crazy/sinister atmosphere.

L'histoire: Ilan Dedicet vit dans la maison de ses parents, alors que ceux-ci ont disparu. Un jour, débarque son ex-copine, revenant dans sa vie comme elle en avait disparu: sans prévenir. Elle pense avoir trouvé comment entrer dans un "jeu". Bien que septique, Ilan décide de la suivre. Mais petit à petit, des choses curieuses se produisent. Est-ce lié au jeu? ou bien est-ce autre chose? Ilan pressent que cela peut devenir dangereux.

Mon avis: Cela fait plusieurs mois que j'ai lu ce livre mais je me décide à laisser un commentaire car il est mémorable! Malheureusement, j'avais lu un commentaire comparant ce livre à un autre, ce qui m'a permis de comprendre rapidement ce qu'il en était. Je pense que cela a atténué l'effet "stress" continu tout au long de la lecture mais heureusement, cela ne m'a pas gâché mon plaisir! C'est un pur délice, un véritable "page turner" comme on dit mais il faut s'accrocher: on est embarqué dans une ambiance un peu sombre, on entre vraiment dans la peau du personnage, on se met à sa place, on flippe à sa place, c'est très prenant! Si vous êtes adepte des thrillers psychologiques, celui-ci est un incontournable! Je connaissais déjà Franck Thilliez mais celui-ci est le meilleur, de loin!

Ayant adoré le manuscrit inachevé de Franck Thilliez je me suis lancée dans Puzzle et franchement pas déçue (je vais donc continuer à lire d'autres de ses thrillers).
Franck Thilliez fait preuve d'ingéniosité et arrive à nous sortir des histoires et des intrigues vraiment prenantes.
Certes la fin peut paraître prévisible pour certains mais je ne me suis pas ennuyée une seule minute tellement c'était captivant.
