I enjoyed everything about this book. Luca finally finding true love with Samantha that he never expected to find, especially with a mortal and then finding out to the shock by Samantha herself, she was actually now a witch and with her newfound abilities as a witch, she was not only able to help in the rescue of Luca, the love of her life by using her abilities, she conjured the element of fire and destroyed the extremely dangerous amulet, that with just a drop from any vampire's blood could be controlled by anyone that had the possession of the amulet and allow them to control a vampire to do their evil bidding on whoever and whatever they pleased. Samantha was also able to conjure the element of earth by opening the ground and burying Rowan forever. The storyline kept me obsessed with this book that I didn't get much sleep because I just wanted to keep reading. It was exciting but I also found myself worrying about Luca being taken, as well as what Samantha had endured by the hands of Asgear and Rowan but there's nothing I love more than reading books about strong willed women that will do ANYTHING to protect themselves, their friends and the man that she loves. Great book and I can't wait to read the next one in the series!

Sometimes when you find a series you just have to hang in there. I did not give up on this series, and I’m so glad I kept going. Luca Luca Luca…was absolutely delicious in “Luca’s Magic Embrace” the second book in the Immortals of New Orleans Series. This book was simply a pleasure to read. I was unimpressed by "Kade’s Dark Embrace" which was the first book in this series, and if the book had not ended on such an intense cliffhanger, I would have missed the opportunity of reading Luca’s story.
Over Impression of the Book
I thoroughly enjoyed this read. Kym Grosso’s writing has improved greatly since her last book, her writing style was completely different this time around. She must have found a better editor. This book had it all, action, romance, and mystery, which seems to be the trend for this series. I loved the storyline that focused greatly on Samantha coming to terms with becoming a witch. That made the story so much fun to read. I also loved the first few chapters that focused on Kade helping Luca heal. It was soooo emotional and I loved it. I felt way more connected with the character this time. What did bothered me was the lack of Kade’s presence in the rest of the book. Luca had some series drama going on that not only affected him and Samantha, but the vampire race as a whole. I would have thought the leader of the vampires would be a lot more involved in getting the issue resolved. Maybe Kade had complete confidence in Luca, but it frustrated me, especially since Luca was so instrumental in helping Kade and Sydney in the last book.
Luca - Luca is my new book boyfriend. He changed so much in the course of one book. He loathed humans in Kade’s Dark Embrace. In this book he is so loving, intense, and dominant. I loved the light BDSM scenes with he and Samantha, so freaking HOT. His strength was unparalleled. Everything but the kitchen sink was thrown at this vampire during this book, and he continued to overcome all adversity geared toward him and Samantha. He was a true protector, and I understand why Samantha trusted him so much. He definitely needs to be the leader of his own territory, he is surely capable. I must admit that after I read this book, I said Kade who. I also love the scenes he shared with Tristan. I can’t wait to read about that sexy Alpha wolf.
Samantha - FINALLY!! A heroine I can get behind. I really loved Samantha, and it has been a long time sense I’ve truly loved a heroine. Vulnerable, yet strong, she had to overcome a lot. Unlike Sydney, she was loyal to Luca from day one, and was open to explore her feelings for him. She has a big heart, and the potential to be a very powerful witch. This book was not just about Luca saving her, she also saved him. She was smart, funny, tough, and feminine.
Plot - The overall plot of the book was just okay. The plot in the first book was far better yet, this book surpasses its predecessor, hands down. This book was packed with action and mystery, which is something I expect from a Kym Grosso novel. The story moved along fluidly, with little to no dead spaces, there was a lot of story to tell. The sudden switch in POV is new to me, but was still easy to follow. The writing was so much better in this book, and I look forward to reading about Tristan’s story next. I love the wolves!!

Wow what a dynamite Series Immortals of New Orleans Kym Grosso I have no idea who recommended this series to me but I want to thank you very much. Kym Grosso is now on my spreadsheet and Authors to follow list. That’s how good these reads were. On a recommendation I picked this entire series up back in November. That being said I started reading just recently. My review is going to be a little different since once I started I absolutely could not put them down. So I read the series as on big fat delicious book. From Kade’s book all the way to Book #6 Dimitri’s book. From Page 1 of Book #1 I could not put the reads down. I was NOT going to stop to do reviews on each individual read because I just couldn’t wait to jump into the next one. Such well written books they read like you’re watching on the big screen. There is something for everyone who enjoys reading Paranormal Erotic Romance. Shifters, Witches, Vamps, humans (LOL) and even a naiad. Lots of action, romance, and sometimes a chuckle here or there. Leopold will give you that. Each of the Hot Hero’s are even romantics in their own way. I know this isn’t the conventional drippy gooey packed review that most are accustomed to, but trust me you’ll understand where I’m coming from when you pick up the first book “Kade’s Embrace” and realized you’ve zipped through all 6 in a matter of days. They’re that good. I so can’t wait for Jax’s story and I want to see if Sydney pulls out of her funk. Again, Thank You to whoever recommended these reads to me and to Kym Grosso for keeping me so captivated with all these scrumptious characters. 5* and I wish I could give higher.

Samantha is rescued and brought back to herself after being kidnapped and not in control of herself. She discovers she is a witch but is unable to do anything. She leaves and goes to a cabin to relax and get back to being her. Meanwhile Luca is worried about Samantha and that she is still in danger. He doesn't understand what is going on with his feelings. They both have it bad for each other. Samantha and Luca go on a quest to find an object. What waits around the corner for them? Very nice read.
I can't complain of copy editing errors, because I none grabbed my attention. However, the preponderance of adverbs weighs down the story. It's loaded with information dumps, stilted dialog, and *telling*. Romantic scenes wallowed in nearly purple prose. With some ruthless content editing to tighten the story, straighten the timeline, and mitigate the head-hopping, this book could be excellent.
4.0 out of 5 starsGood read and better then the previous one!

A big improvement from the 1st book in the series! This story was more put together I really liked it! I'm happy to give it 4 solid stars!
I love Luca even though at the beginning he was irritating me with his no human no love rules but then he was so sweet even though the change came so sudden!
“Because, my dear Samantha,”
he cupped her face, tilting her head upward to meet his gaze.
"I want you more than I’ve ever wanted any woman in my life, and it scares the living hell out of me.”
He went through loss one time so it was hard for him to love again but when he faced his fear it was great!
The one thing that was driving me crazy in this and previous book was how the heroes were using only one word of endearment to their girls in first book was it LOVE and here constantly DARLING!!! Yuyghh
It's not a bad think but over reading it repeatedly it was driving me mad
The heroine was fragile but when it came to faving the fear she knew how to fight for what was important!
Can't wait for Other characters stories to read but especially Jax !

In this second book in the Immortals of New Orleans we find Luca Macquarie imprisoned and in dire trouble after being attacked. Kade and Sydney, from Book 1, come to his rescue and save him then he proceeds to make sure the 'made' witch, Samantha, is safe. Samantha was possessed, beaten and turned into a witch, having no memory of the things she did, is a blessing. Together, Samantha and Luca must find a dangerous amulet, along the way she learns her witchy side, besides a sexual one with a certain hot vamp. Although both characters were introduced in book 1, it's not strictly necessary to read it to understand book 2, there are plenty of references along the way. There's loads of sex scenes, a little bdsm and a smidgen of m/f/m action. In fact I think the relationship and sex overtook the storylines a little. Nevertheless, a well written read...albeit a bit soppy in places, secondary characters aplenty for future books and enjoyed it.

I rated the first book 3 and found this one a little more enjoyable. Following on from book one, it tells of Luca, a vampire, and Samantha, a made witch. Witches are usually born as such, but Samantha was taken captive by a particularly nasty piece of work, and his magic was infused into Samantha. She has no idea how to control it. Luca had an attraction to Samantha when he saved her from said nasty piece of work. After being left for dead, and rescued by Kade and Sydney(from book one)Luca sets off to find Samantha and bring her back to New Orleans. After a fire, a meeting with Kade's maker, Leopold, and the discovery that Samantha needs to find something that could cause disaster for both vampires and werewolves alike, Samantha and Luca set off to find the amulet and each other.
the story itself was good, and it flowed well, with everything making sense. it was just that up to halfway through, it is raw, and gritty. then after they had sex, it gets all lovely and floaty, the dialogue between Samantha and Luca does, and it was a bit off putting.
while reading these books in order would help, it isn't really necessary, as much is explained about Kade and Sydney, and their relationship, along with Luca's part in their past.
a single multi partner scene and some violence.
there are more books in this series, but I don't know if I will buy them.
Wow this book had such an exciting plot It all started when Luca had been attacked and abducted while safe guarding Samantha, who was going to the witches coven for the training of her newly gained skill. Samantha having reluctantly spent time with the witches, but couldn't seem to connect with her powers, decided to leave. Needing some time to get her head around everything that had happened to her, she just wanted her normal life back. A retreat in the mountains seemed ideal. Luca was rescued and realising Samantha maybe in danger, he is now on a mission to bring her back, for her her own good, of cause. Nothing at all to do with him wanting to see her again and protect her. Under attack again as the cabin is set alight, but who is out to get her this time ? that is the question. Lots of twists and turns in this thrilling story as the pair have to battle at times to stay alive and solve the mystery. Their instant attraction heats and takes them both to new heights of pleasure, and through it all the deepest love blooms. I would highly recommend this series, and I can't wait to start the next book.
This is the first book I've read by this author, but I do love reading PNR. This was no different..if you like PNR you'll enjoy Luca and Samantha's story. Although this is book 2, it can be read as a standalone. It's set in the wonderful New Orleans, and it sets the scene perfectly for this story of witches, vampires, and shifters..
