5.0 out of 5 starsDarcy

Upon learning just what horrible schemes her half-brother is prepared to carry out as he strives to further his business interests, Darcy feels she has no choice but to flee to a mail-order bride agency and offer herself as a bride, but a match is slow in coming and when she feels danger nipping at her heels, she decides to take a risk and pursue a man mentioned by a friend as a potential match. Gideon isn't your typical gruff, alpha male . . . he's a shy, reserved learned man content for the most part with his quiet life in the woods, and I loved his mixture of vulnerability and intelligence, with the bit of steel he displays now and then, especially when he's feeling protective of Darcy. It was different to see the heroine be so protective of the hero, as he faced his demons over and over again. Great story! Looking forward to Bertha's, and hope to see it out soon!
Debra Holland has once again written a story to get lost in. From the very first page, you are drawn to the characters and emotionally attached to them.
Finding herself in danger from her half-brother, and needing to marry to gain control of her inheritance, Darcy flees her home to become a mail-order bride. Being an intellectual woman, she always feels out of place. Never really planning on leaving the agency she enjoys her time there and becomes great friends with the other girls. When she receives word her brother is coming she leaves the agency to head to Sweetwater Springs.
Gideon is a quiet and reclusive man. Trauma from his childhood has made him enjoy his solitude. But when Darcy shows up and tells him her story, he agrees to marry her. Lina and Trudy were right about her and he can see them getting along well together.
When trouble shows up in town though, Gideon and Darcy both have to did down deep and rely on one another as they have never had to before. Will they learn to trust each other and rely on others as well? Will Gideon give up his reclusive ways to be the man he needs to be to protect his wife
I have enjoyed this series, so far Darcy is the best for me. She seems very believable and is her own person. Set back in the era where society women were such shallow creatures, it's nice to see one with a backbone and a mind of her own. Gideon, thanks to her, will overcome his awful childhood.
Once again Debra Holland comes through! Small details from her other books tie it all together. Descriptions of Gids cabin and the fairies, wood creatures and Darcy's first glimpse,Wow! Gideon reaction to Darcy looking at her knowing she was his soul mate, who she was without her. saying. This book draws in. Debra Holland and Carolyn Fyffe did a good collaboration with this series it only gets better. The little details bring it togather . Enchanted Cottage(cabin). Darcy becomes a tightness when a shop owner insults Gideon, his innocence and confusion show how isolated he'd become. Gideon leaves his safety zone to buy a gun, over comming his fears of people for HIS WIFE! He feels a compulsion to over come his inner battle at all costs. Love is all around in his woodworking and carving even on his mixing spoons. Darcy finds new treasures all around her. THIS IS A ENCHANTING BOOK A MUST READ, A CAN'T PUT IT DOWN BOOK! Loved
5.0 out of 5 starsDarcy's story has been my favorite of this series

Even though I have one more book in this series to read; Darcy's story has been my favorite of this series. It is a very different plot - and I really enjoyed the development of the two main characters. I don't normally enjoy these Mail Order Bride books; as they are all the same - but this series of Mail Order Brides is different. As I've said in other reviews this Mail Order Brides of the West Series also ties into the McCutcheon Family Series as well as the Montana Sky Series.......in these stories we have seen, met and developed and built two towns of families. These series are among the best stories I've read in a while. Buy and read them all.....they are well worth your time and money.
Darcy came from a wealthy Eastern family in the 1880s. When she overheard her brother plotting with another man to force her to sign over her portion of her grandfather's inheritance, she knew she had to take drastic measures. Only marriage could legally protect her, but she didn't like any of the society men she knew, so she decided to flee to St. Louis to become a mail-order bride. Her life in danger, she fled to Montana, to marry Gideon, a recluse who also loved philosophy and nature. Together, can they find safety and love, even after her brother tracks them down? Once again Debra Holland has created a sweet romance in the middle of life's turmoil, tying in the previous mail-order brides who had come to the Montana territory.

If you are a romantic, you will love Debra Holland. Her books are set around mail order brides in Montana during the 1800's. What I like about this book and the series is that it really is a series. You don't have to read the original one to connect the dots. However, you will have a better understanding of the series if you do. Darcy is one of a series of mail order brides who finds herself in the need of a husband in a hurry. Her wealthy half-brother is about to maneuver her inheritance away to invest in a property scheme. In order to protect her share, she needs a husband. This one, like all of hers, are very descriptive. You can place yourself in the 1850's and the manner in which people lived and survived. These would be a fun summer read for young teen age daughters to understand how necessity sometimes overcame want back then. Enjoy.

A beautiful exciting story with very special characters made for each other. Darcy is an heiress and love quotes and books. Gid is the same and they both have the love of nature. I could imagine without a doubt how Gid's house looks like. A lots of details to describe the beauty of Gid's home Gideon isn't the everyday cowboy and that make him even more interesting and worthy to love. Without knowing him a lot Darcy will fall in love because she never thought a man like him could exist A lot of suspense too. Debra Holland gave us again a very good book
