3.0 out of 5 stars Uncivilized is filled with dirty talk and uninhibited sex

Wow. This book is hot. From start to finish, Uncivilized is filled with dirty talk and uninhibited sex.

Anthropologist Dr. Moira Reed is sent on a mission to bring back Zacharias Easton home from the Amazon, and help him transition back into the modern world. She needs to do her best with this mission, because not only will Randall Cannon, Zach’s godfather and the man who funded the whole mission, give her a generous grant, she will also be able to publish her work with the man who lived in the Amazon with a tribe for eighteen years.

Zacharias never wanted to leave his tribe. It’s been his home for eighteen years, and he’s happy there. But some American guy who claims to be his godfather wants him back, and he has no choice but to go with the gorgeous redhead. At first, he fought Moira’s efforts and made it difficult for her, but when Moira, who is three years older, offered to teach him everything in the modern world, he has something in mind he wants to learn. And he has something he wants to teach Moira. That no matter what she does, he is and always will be uncivilized.

Believe it or not, Tarzan was my favorite Disney movie. I have a lot of fond memories of it as a kid, and I jumped at the chance to buy this book when it was on sale a while back.

As hot as steamy as the sex was, I wanted more. I wanted to see what Zach’s eighteen years with the tribe was like. I wanted more from the characters. I never get to know much about them, other than their insatiable sex drives, and bits that don’t get sore from too much sex. Seriously. These two were getting it on day in and day out! I wanted more story. Uncivilized is basically a PWP (Plot? What Plot?) book.

Zach has no intention of staying in the US, and he resented Moira for taking him away from the place he called home for eighteen years. He basically made it hard for Moira when they flew to the US, and he was barely civil to her until when they started sleeping together. The lust was obvious, but I didn’t see what they could be beyond their sleeping arrangements.

His transitioning into the modern world felt too effortless. Eighteen years away from the US, and when he arrives, it’s as if he never left. I know Father Gaul, a missionary priest, visited Zach’s tribe and gave him reading materials and spoke to him in English, but I don’t know.

I didn’t know what to think of Moira, too. She’s smart, yes. Kind. Has gorgeous red hair. But that’s pretty much it.

Uncivilized, a quick and steamy tale told in alternating POVs, is filled with hot and incredibly-written sex. So that’s a plus, I guess. Haha. I’m definitely not complaining about that.

I would have enjoyed it more if the characters were given more substantial growth, and the story more, well… story. Surprisingly, I still liked this book. It just goes to show how dirty my mind really is. LOL.

If you’re looking for a steamy read with an alpha male, light BDSM, and lots of sex, you might enjoy Uncivilized.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and different than I expected...

3.5 stars — Well, I can honestly say this was not what I was expecting… I was expecting a more straight up erotica, but we really got a lot more depth in this story. And I think it made for a better story in the end. But at the same time I seem to still be plagued by distraction while reading, so I had a hard time staying absorbed. Not sure if it was the book, b/c I have lots of good things to say, or just the mood I’m in…I’ll likely give the book the benefit of the doubt and round up.

I was actually really interested watching Zach adjust to “the modern world”, and deal with his expanding feelings for Moira…especially when it seems like romantic love was not a concept that his tribe subscribed to. His journey throughout the story kind of fascinated me. Now, I’m not sure how realistic it all was…sometimes I would wonder at how he knew some things but didn’t know others, but I decided not to overthink it and just enjoy the story for what it was without getting wrapped up in the details. There were times I wasn’t sure I would like his character. He…well, I don’t know. He’s exactly as the title suggests, but part of this “uncivilized nature” is that he’s been instilled with, almost, a different set of values. I was a bit uncomfortable with the sexual roles of men and women in his tribe. It’s kind of a difficult thing to read about as someone from a Western world. It made me think about consent, if nothing else. And he teetered on this line with Moira as well. Now, obviously, we know she did consent from being inside her head…but the way a few of their encounters played out were on the line. The thing I appreciate about actual BDSM (if it’s done right, as far as I understand it), is that there is clear, written consent, things are agreed upon beforehand, and there is a manner to stop things. That’s not what happened in this book. I don’t have bad feelings, it just made me think is all. And that kind of went off on a tangent, whoops.

Anyways, my heart did hurt for Zach watching him struggle with his past and all the feelings that coming back to the US brought out in him. I enjoyed the fact that his story was more than just the sex and romance…we explored what his role in modern society would be, and how he would feel value. I found that interesting. I also really appreciated Zach’s changing relationship with Randall. It could have gone black and white, but Randall was truly an interesting character in his own right.

I actually really liked Moira as well, even as she contributed to my heavy thinking about the consent issue. She seemed genuinely caring and empathetic towards Zach’s situation, and tried really hard not to push her own desires on to him, but to try to see his journey from his perspective. And she could be feisty and give as good as she got when pushed.

As for their relationship…it was kind of a fun ride, b/c it started out heavily in lust, and we did actually get to see feelings develop on both sides. I felt those feelings, I believed them. I’m usually not one for sex without emotions, so I enjoyed their later encounters more than their initial ones.

All in all this book made me think, I just might not have been quite in the right frame of mind to enjoy it to its fullest.

3.5 stars.

Uncivilized is a well-written story with all the basic elements that make up a romantic tale. The heroine, Moira, is an anthropologist that is secure, accomplished and fated to meet a wild man in her latest assignment in the Amazon. Zach Easton is an orphan of missionaries that died tragically from dengue fever when he was just seven years old. After 18 years of living with Caraican Indians, Moira is assigned as a guide to return Zach to the States. What begins as a reluctant, defiant albeit erotic relationship does indeed blossom with all the usual tropes.

I previewed reviews that desired knowing more about Zach’s tragedy but I felt it was covered enough. Conversely, I felt Moira was less so explored as this book really circulated about Zach’s expatriation.

All in all, this book was moderately consuming and just tender enough. It’s heavy-laden with intimate scenes which gained substance at a consistent pace by 46%. Between 70 and 80%, I felt that I was just witnessing the couple in various locations. I was losing interest despite the thrill of public trysts and other typical sizzling scenes.

The erotic scenes varied on levels of enjoyment for me but ultimately they were well written. I wasn’t overwhelmed by what I thought would be more dominant behavior.

The conclusion ends as you would predict but still pulled a small smile on my face. I don’t think this a book many are likely to become attached to. But i do think this pair was novel in that wildness was an education. It was interesting to see intimacy and affection be a didactic expression as well as an emotional one in both Caraican culture and American. The sociologist in me appreciated that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hotter and steamier than the Amazon forest itself!!!

This is the second Sawyer Bennett book I have read and I was not disappointed!

This is the story of Zach, who has been living with a tribe in the Amazonian rainforest since the age of 7 and Moira, the anthropologist who has the task of bringing Zach back to the USA to meet the godfather he didnt know he had.

Zach is a wild beast of a man who Moira is captivated by....and Zach is equally intrigued by this female who has such a different outlook to life compared to all of the women he has known from the village.

Other reviews relate the story to Tarzan and Jane and I also saw elements of 'Crocodile Dundee', as Zach's self-discovery and how he subsequently recounted what he had learned was at times very amusing.

The characters were likeable and the story progressed well, but the highlight was the explosive sex which was plentiful, well-written and at times I thought my Kindle might spontaneously combust!

Well done!

Any ladies out there? Listen to this because it is important and this message will self destruct in 5,4,3,2....

If you haven't read this book, do it quick. The message won't actually self destruct but your knickers will.

I never read Sawyer Bennett before, I thought all of her books were about lawyers and I have enough of them at work without reading about the arrogant pigs. But no lawyer anywhere to be seen, just pure testosterone in the form of jungle boy Zach Easton.

Zach is used to taking what he wants, when he wants, killing his own food oh and walking around as nakid as the day he was born. Have I said he is hot? Fan me please.

Moira an anthropologist is sent to bring Zach home from the jungle and acclimatise him to the modern world. Zach's idea of learning is to find out about sex. He is no virgin but how I wish I was the one to give him his first BJ! My word spectacular.

I squealed and giggled at his education, just this......(quote amended for Amazon purposes)

"So what did you do today?" "You mean after I found your s&# toy?" "Yes," she growls. "After you found my s&# toy." "Well, let's see...I m@8turb@ted in your kitchen and climaxed all over your table." "You what?" She asks with her mouth hanging open. I nod my head. "That happened after I found out what pornography was on the Internet and watched a woman take it up her p^$$¥ and her a$$ while she sucked another guy's c0(k down her throat."

See ladies, worth the read isn't it? Big thanks to Literary Gossip, Jen and Nina for the rec.

It is a bit Tarzan and Jane but please don't let it put you off, and no lawyers! Result.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost outstanding

I really enjoyed this book previous reviewers it was rich in information on the Amazon and the tribal culture in question. My only niggle was the ease and speed with which Zach supposedly became 'civilized' and was using modern language and swearing with the best of them. It just made it unbelievable and I lost connection with him in those times. There were also moments when his vocabulary was just too advanced for someone that spoke English till 7 then only learnt it via reading books etc, I'd have expected his language to be simpler not carry out dialogue in such an articulate way...I know the author tried to give context like Zach had learnt this and that on Google but hey if we all mastered the correct way to use slang and naughty words via Google alone not interacting with other people wow no-one would need school...
Other than that I'd definitely recommend it to friends and the HEA was too soon I'd have wanted a bit more of Zach as a husband...see him as a dad, the challenges that would come with that and work...a girl can only dream!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars What an amazingly singular novel - wonderfully exciting and deliciously erotic!

Oh my God! What an amazingly singular novel - exciting, fascinating and deliciously erotic! Yes, I was totally getting the Tarzan vibes but Zach was to die for!!! Flippin' heck!

I can barely express how much I loved this story, and how thrilling and sexy it was in places, and how heart-wrenching it was in others. It was also funny - I loved Zach's curiosity with Google!! LOL.

Moira is an intelligent and strong heroine, with a vulnerable heart. Zach might have lived in the wild for 18 years but he was far from illiterate or clueless. He was smart and quick on the uptake, and destined to go far.

I loved their connection and all-consuming passion for each other. Zach starts out as a man who lives his life simply in black and white, but then Moira brings colour to his existence, adding nuance and complexity.

Loved this story so much and, honestly, wouldn't mind a sequel!

Ok maybe not Fifty Shades but definitely hot!
Very sexy, funny, beautiful love story.
My mind went through all the possible different endings, still couldn't figure it out. I had no idea how, or if they would get their HEA.
Zach was the perfect alpha. Moira handled him well. As so often happens in books, and real life, the characters dance around their true feelings. Just when I thought I could see their HEA, the unexpected happens and grows me for a loop. Then came the ugly tears. A perfect story of true love. Definite 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
