5.0 out of 5 stars Side-stitching fun!

I read this book, and I kid you not, in less than 3 hours! Nearly that entire time I was laughing so hard I had tears STREAMING down my face!

All I can say is; poor Hunter, you didn’t know WHAT you were getting into but was a great sport about it all! Leigh had no CLUE what she was doing but towards the end finally figured it out! And Luna?! Oh goodness she reminds me SOOO much of my own cat although instead of being standoffish to the owner she’s usually that way towards strangers, at least at first. I loved all of the friends, and even the poor parents; never mind what they all went through!

The only downside to the book is that it ended too soon!! I’m suffering from the ‘blahs’ because I keep going and expecting there to be more to it and there isn’t! However there’s two bonus snippets at the end, and that’s all I’m going to say, that kind of make up for it! I’m definitely going to wait excitedly for the next book, and snatch it up as soon as possible! I’m sooo glad I was introduced to Melanie James and am adding her to my list of “must haves” for the future!

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, just not for me

First off, I listened to this story on Audible, and the narrator did a great job. Hollie Jackson is the narrator for this, she did a good job brining the characters to life. Solid performance and good quality recording.

Crazy, kooky, fun read, but just not for me. The story just felt mean-spirited; especially towards men, and I just didn't connect with the main character Leigh. She comes across as a bit mean. The premise is a fun one. Leigh is upset over how an author kills off Leigh's book boyfriend, so Leigh decides to try writing her own stories. Things get weird and crazy when the stuff she writes starts happening to the people around her; magic is afoot! Leigh is very surprised, and doesn't exactly handle things well in my opinion. She really should've just stopped writing, but she continues to make things worse and worse. I also didn't find her story scenarios very sexy; there's no substance to any of the romances in this book, so I didn't connect with that aspect as well. Also, there's a really gross scene with her parents towards the end that made me just go eww! So, overall, there's some entertainment value in this story, but I probably won't be continuing with this series.

Leigh was a hardworking teacher with a non-existent love life; therefore, she was a smart reader, often indulging in steamy romance books. She would rather masturbate at home to one of her fictional characters than go out with Carl. Who wouldn’t?

After the sudden death of one of her favorite characters, Leigh goes through a mourning period, then vows to finally write her own steamy paranormal romance. She gets this weird, old desk from this strange, mean lady, and then she writes her fist steamy sex scene. The next day, she finds out that her parents had reenacted the same exact scene. Whatever she wrote came true? She wrote a paranormal romance starring her parents. Oy!

Not only did she have to imagine her parents in kinky sex, but she had to stop the story before the 3 alpha wolves banged her mom in group love.

I liked how this started with this magical writing desk. Leigh is a vibrant and witty character, but she tends to yammer too much sometimes. Also, the writing gets too indulgent in sexual and genitalia references. These things can be funny sometimes, but enough was enough already.

This was an okay read.

Accidental Leigh Melanie James
Accidental Leigh: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (Literal Leigh Romance Diaries Book 1)J
by Melanie James

Want a book that will leave you rip roaringly laughing? You found it!!! Accidental Leigh is so funny I was laughing out loud!
Leigh is a young lady who is an avid reader. Especially of her favorite book, of whom the main character is a sexy vampire werewolf that she’s in love with. But when the author kills him off, Leigh can’t handle it. So she decides she can write as well as anyone else! Now, the first thing she needs is a desk she can write on!
Unfortunately, the desk she finds seems to be bewitched. And everything she writes turns into reality! Problem is, she wrote about her parents having a sexy date! Can she circumvent what she wrote and stop a disaster from happening? Or will she learn how to write so that it doesn’t affect anyone she knows?
Well, before that happens, the Witches guild decides she’s practicing witchcraft without their help! Although she didn’t even know what she was doing to begin with! Although with a book entitled “Four-bitten Fangtasty” there’s not much mundane stuff going on in the book!
Beware the book is very erotic and describes sex. But not in the normal way a romance book would hehe.

4.0 out of 5 stars Witchy humor!

ACCIDENTAL LEIGH is a quick read that you can finish in just a few hours. It's somewhat of an introduction of books to follow in this series I believe, because it left off with a bit of a cliff hanger. I mean, it just stopped. I was hoping for another chapter to find out what happens, but I guess that will be discussed in Book 2 of this series. First of all, if adult content and not-so-nice language bothers you, you may not want to start reading this book. But if you're okay with all of that, this book will have you chuckling and maybe even giggling like a school girl! The humor was great!

After getting upset that her favorite author killed off Leigh's "book boyfriend", she decides she wants to write a romance novel herself and buys an antique writing desk from an old lady. Then, as she writes, she discovers that the events in her book actually happen to friends and family. Can't wait to see where all of this goes!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great chick-lit but too short and ends too abruptly.

Really enjoyed this book. It is witty and humorous and is written in such a way that all women can relate to the main character Leigh, and I especially love the way Melanie James brought to life the relationship between Leigh and her cat Luna.
It is hard to make me laugh out loud but without leaving spoilers, the mini-golf date had me properly laughing. This book is chick-lit at it's best - all the characters are perfect and I wouldn't change a thing about them.

The reason I haven't given this 5 stars is because of the massively abrupt ending. It is more like a short story than a book. It left me feeling like I wanted to shout "WTF?" and although I want more, if the sequels are just as short and irritatingly abrupt then I would rather save my sanity and leave them alone. There i a difference between leaving you wanting more and leaving you feeling with an unsatisfied, anti-climax feeling. Please Melanie James, make these stories a proper, full novel!

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Quick Start To This Light-hearted Series

This is a fun light-hearted read with lots of eye-rolling on my part. Leigh my usual choice of leading lady but then this isn't that sort of read either. This is the perfect quick chick-lit summer read, perfect for those hot days sat on the beach or around the pool with a glass of something cold to hand.

Be warned there is a cliffhanger at the end of this book but our do get the first chapter of the next installment at the end.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dull, bland, unimaginative, boring dross. Don't waste your time or money on this

This is one of the dullest books I have ever read, I didn't even bother to read the last few chapters in full, just skimmed them to the cliff hanger ending and deleted it from my kindle along with book 2. I'm so glad I didn't have to pay money for it, in fact Amazon should have paid me to read it.
The book is mostly the main character telling you what's going on in a way that makes it feel like a lecture. It just felt lazy to have her drone on and on. I could not connect with Leigh at all, she addressed the reader as though she was such a great character and we were hanging on her every word instead of being bored to tears. This was supposedly a romantic comedy, I failed to find any comedy or romance at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!!!!

This is a hilarious story and I loved it! A normal girl who thinks she is a witch, buys a writing desk. But this is no normal desk, and she finds out very soon it's dangerous powers. Whatever she writes, comes true! But is it all good? Um... no, not as she wanted it to be. With two friends by her side, Leigh writes and experiments on situations by writing them as a story, to makes the lives of people around her to have a good life. Only, this does not happen!

With funny but alarming situations, Accidental Leigh is exactly that!

Not too bad, but not brilliant either. I don't know why but I just wasn't hooked and found it a bit of a struggle to keep reading, even though it was rather short. It all felt a little predictable but then, this is a hard genre to write where things aren't samey and done before, so I can't fault the author for that. I personally just didn't engage with the characters, but that's just my opinion and I'd still say give it a go.
