I found myself skimming, more than reading. I finally gave up around the 35% point.
Why do authors feel the need to write historic romances, yet do absolutely no research as to the language, or customs of the time period represented? Its just plain nuts. This makes about a dozen of these nonsensical books I have read, where its all modern day language and situations, just throw em in some costumes, and call it a historical romance.
It would make more sense, be easier for the writer, and more enjoyable for the reader, if they just wrote contemporary romance and called it done, since clearly they are too lazy to put in any time for research. Even if it were a fabulous romance (and needless to say, this one is not), this language issue would be a deal breaker for me. This book is practically crying for a good editor!
