I think it may have been beneficial to read the first book in this series to get a little bit more of a back story on Paige and Christian. Besides that, I don't think you really needed to read the first book to understand this one. The story starts off a little rough with a relationship between Paige and Christian. Christian has a drinking problem and Paige is done dealing with it. She storms out and Christian doesn't bother to go after her. She meets Henry and falls in love. Henry is everything she has ever wanted and needed. Christian will forever be in the back of her mind, but she has a wonderful time with Henry. Henry tells her to go stay at her friends house to help reduce her stress. Little does she know, Christian is going to be in her life as much as he possibly can. Paige has a big decision to make about Henry and Christian when some devastating news is thrown her way. The book is an emotional roller coaster but ends on a happy note.
Surprised. Highly recommend that you read Stubborn Love before reading Only in Dreams. This can be read as a stand-alone but you will appreciate the complexities of these relationships by reading Stubborn Love first. This cast of characters come together in Stubborn Love and we meet Paige and Christian, an intense couple that has been together since they were teenagers but Christian is on a downward spiral. This book shocked me when Paige makes an extremely difficult decision to walk away from her love for Christian to save not only him but also herself. As Paige dives into her modeling career, she meets Henry and is shocked that she would find love twice in her life. Henry is the amazing man that supports her dreams and gives her all the love she needs. He encourages her to visit her friend Emmie in Texas to work on her fashion collection but neither one knew she would come face to face with Christian. This story was emotionally gut wrenching as Paige has to face her feelings for two men. There are no easy answers and I felt all the ups and downs with Paige. Truly loved immersing myself into this romantic journey.
Talk about an emotional roller coaster! Wow. We learn, early on, that Paige and Christian are heading for a serious confrontation. Christian is back to drinking and partying and Paige is not interested in that lifestyle. When she tries to talk to him, he lashes out and she leaves. Fast forward some years and Paige is engaged and a budding fashion designer. She has not spoken to Christian in all that time but comes face to face with him when she visits her best friend Emmie in Texas. Now they both have to confront long suppressed feelings to determine if they can be friends...or possibly more. Trust me and read this book. It's a little slow to start and Paige's waffling emotions can grate, but it's worth the time and energy. I promise.
This was such a beautiful and captivating tale of love, loss and the decisions of life that we all face. The author really captures the heartache and pain of love, and the struggles of trying to figure out who we're meant to be with and whether to go for the "safe" choice or for the choice that could ignite a fire.
In "Only In Dreams" Paige Parker has a promising life before her with a loving man she's about to marry and the pain of a broken heart years ago has finally healed. But when Paige returns home she's faced with the man who caused her so much pain and heartache, leaving her twisting and turning as she tries to figure out if she's really truly over him or not. The romance between Paige and Christian is fraught with chemistry, you can feel the gamut of emotions from both of them throughout the novel... weaving a story two souls losing each other only to find each other once again years later. There's a quiet drama to it as Paige battles with her inner emotions, trying to uncover what path she needs to take and who she's really in love with (and meant to be with).
Ms. Owens has a talent for writing that draws you into the story and makes you care about the characters, and this novel is no exception. I was sucked into the novel from the very first page until the last and overall, it was a very entertaining read.
I loved Paige's story. I was sad, hopeful and I couldn't put it down. I read the first book about Colin and Emmie and I was so glad to catch up with them and to see what was going on in their lives. I never expect Paige to be in love with someone else besides Christian but it happens and life goes on. After certain things happen in the book it was kind of predictable. I kind-of knew what was going and hoped for the best. I was a big Christian and Paige cheerleader and wanted them to get back together since they had been in love for such a love time and they grew up with each other. I kept cheering him on!! Things happen, sad things, heart breaking things and then you are left with hope and happiness. I know you love Paige's story. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!! Happy reading!!!
This book set its hooks in early and I couldn’t help but take the emotional rollercoaster ride with Paige. Every difficult decision she had to make in life and love, I found myself weighing in on the matter. Sometimes I agreed with her decision and sometimes I did not. And that’s the power of the great storytelling that takes place in this book – it draws you in and the reader can’t help but feel connected to the main character and want to give advice and root for her. The dynamics of this triangle love story will keep you turning pages way past your bed time, anxious to find out what happens next. I even found myself getting choked up because of Henry’s situation. A piece of advice, without giving it away - keep a box of tissues handy. Also, be prepared for lighter moments that will have you in stitches (ie. Paige and the guy seated next to her on the plane). I enjoyed this book immensely!
