5.0 out of 5 stars Verrrry good book

For reasons I'll point out but FIRST I'll add a disclaimer that I try to mention the good AND bad in books I read. Some reviewers take offense at that but I try to keep it real. I appreciate it when reviewers tell ME what not to expect. NOW,

Why I loved it: 1. It's a light read, no heavy issues to bog you down emotionally. 2. It has a storyline we can relate to on some level. I don't know any princesses but I DO know about getting through college on loans, scholarships and a prayer. 3. Decent dialogue! Which I'll always be a champion for until the end of time. 4. Intense love/sex scenes: had to take a few cold showers... 5. Great supporting characters: Harris = awesome! 6. Age-wise, I can relate to the main characters (early 20s).

Why it might not be your book: 1. No angst if you're into that kinda read. 2. The main characters are in their 20's, that's a turn off for some (but not me! And these folks weren't immature in the book). 3. No heavy issues though one of the issues is arguably "serious" in nature. 4. Can't dig up anything else REMOTELY negative...

So yeah, I generally really loved this book and I'm now a fan of this author.

Good book! Keeping this one!

*** No Synopsis ***

This was a really fun book. The setting and plot were original and the characters were likable with depth that isn't always found in this genre. While the two main characters fell in love a bit too quickly for my taste, they made a great couple and I thought the obstacles they both had to overcome were authentic to their lifestyles. Those obstacles did not seem contrived in the least. One of the main characters has a life altering decision to make and the way it was handled was very empowering. All in all, this was a very good read. The audiobook is great as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Part journey to self-acceptance and Part romantic modern-day fairytale

Sasha is a British princess with a reputation for short-lived flings and limited intelligence. Kerry is a Rhodes scholar from America with Irish-Catholic roots. A chance connection at a club sparks an awakening of self, love and honesty for the two of them... and ultimately, the country's people view Sasha with new eyes once she embraces who she is and gains the courage to no longer hide it. Kerry's very presence in Sasha's life brings out the best in her... and soon leads to true, lasting love.

I enjoyed watching Sasha get forced to humble herself in order to gain Kerry's attention and trust. I also liked the way Kerry allows Sasha to be her self... no matter what. I least enjoyed how Sasha becomes cowardice at times... choosing the public's opinion over that of Kerry's. It all seems worth it when Sasha proclaims her truth and stands up for causes and people equally affected by the same truths. Enjoyable modern-day fairy tale....

Nell Stark writing about Princesses. A little bit different, but well worth it. Princess Sasha is beautiful, charming, sexy, and smart. But she's the royal child in the most trouble or always screwing things up. While out partying one night when she was supposed to be giving a welcoming speech to the new group of Rhodes scholars, she meets one of the Rhodes scholars, Kerry Donovan. Sparks flying and tingling after touches has them both wanting to see each other again. As their relationship continues in secret, their worlds change. Then they are found out and all hell breaks loose.

5.0 out of 5 stars ... that deals with princesses/royalty romance are usually my LEAST favorite to read in lesbian genre

Anything that deals with princesses/royalty romance are usually my LEAST favorite to read in lesbian genre. But this book has been recommended to me many times so I decided to check it out. Got the audio and I found myself laughing so hard at some of the parts in the story, and especially the way the lady did the voice for the father. This is probably the only book I'll like in this kind of storyline. You end up loving both main characters and wishes a sequel for both. But I see the characters are different in the sequel. So, again, I'm back to "should I get it or should I not".

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read

Very cute, didn't let you get bored with small details while still keeping a clear picture of what was happening and the characters involved. Perhaps more attention could be drawn to the characters lives outside of the immediate plot. More attention on Sarah's relationship with her best friend and her younger sister for example, and more on the characters of Kerry's family as that is what shapes her idea of family and companionship.

I. Love. This. Book.

Ever have those books on your shelf you can read and re-read and pick up and read again. This gem by Nell Stark is one of them. The Princess Affair was one of the first books I read when I started reading lesbian fiction and it’s one of my go-to novels when the market get saturated with tired plots and “marriage and babies after two dates” books.

Buy it. Read it. Enjoy it. I promise you will.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Enjoyed It

This is the first of this author's books that I read. I was prompted to try it out because of the Lammy nomination.

Beyond the pretty cool plot, I have to say this is one of the best written books I have read in a while. She captures the culture amazingly well and her prose are so well done. I found myself rereading sections just being in awe of how eloquent it was.

Onto the plot, I think we all may have had a princess/prince fantasy so that was utterly enjoyable and I found myself smiling throughout.

I highly recommend this book because it was so good I read it in about 9 hours while taking various breaks. That rarely happens with me and books.

I read one of nell Starks short stories and I have to say I was not impressed, this kept me from buying any of her books, but I'm a sucker for a fairy tale and it was with some trepidation that bought this book, how wrong could I be. I loved it!! I am now the proud owner of all her books including the ones she co wrote with Trinity Tam. Go on give it a try you won't be disappointed.
