5.0 out of 5 starsUnique and entertaining!

I wasn't sure about this book when I first started it but quickly became engaged with the characters. The main character, Nathan, had two very different gifts. The desire to preach the Word of God and the ability to be a very fast gun. As his experiences with both mount up in a classic western setting he learns that both are God-given and is able to resolve the conflict he feels. I liked the sheriff's explanation that when he was forced to kill a criminal he was really saving the lives of all the people that criminal would have killed. The changed lives and growing friendships of all the different characters made me invested in the story. I look forward to the sequel.
5.0 out of 5 starsA FRESH FROM THE SEMINARY PREACHER

A young preacher resh from the seminary trying to find his place in life A damsel in distress accosted by a drunk An unwanted reputation THE BIBLE OR THE BADGE????
I found George through RESCUING THE RANCHER ~ Cowboys and Angels; Read Sanctuary Brides < wondering who is Aggie?>; Read first 2 of Redemption; Popped over to Sophie and read Cottonwood <found Aggie!!> Finished Redemption series waiting for more from Redemption and Sanctuary ;-))
Redeeming Reputation opens with an attention-grabbing train robbery that establishes the decent and fearless character of the central figure, David Nathaniel Ryder. From the outset, the reader anticipates the danger and adventure that would follow a smart, fast-draw western hero with a deep sense of honor and justice. Redeeming Reputation does not disappoint. There are smartly developed gun fights in which Ryder, who has gone west to fulfill his calling as a circuit-riding preacher, instead gains the reputation of a gunslinger called, "The Preacher." There is a beautiful woman who needs to be rescued. There are relentless, black hearted outlaws. I really liked that other characters are well developed for their roles, including: a brave and honorable shop keeper; a feisty and kind café owner; a reformed outlaw; a solid, God-fearing sheriff; and even an annoying, officious eastern dude and his pompous wife. Redeeming Reputation is hard to put down. It is a page turner and a very good read.
Nathan certainly had some adjustments to make and the revelations revealed were dynamic to say the least. Bringing Grace with her so called background was captivating and compelling. Your storytelling brought so much thought and clarifications for the lives of many. Truly enjoyed this book and series. Thank you and God blessings upon your work!!!!

4.0 out of 5 starsFrom when I was a child with my dad
Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2013
My dad read westerns most of his life and as a child he read them to me and we watched a lot of western movies. This book reminded me of those great times with my Dad. The characters were good and strong and you knew from the beginning it was going to be a good book about good people. I liked the preacher and I like the romance that was put in the book. Sometimes I felt there was a little to much detail but then again I am a person who likes to read the story line , where my Dad would have enjoyed every word of this book and the desciptions, he was from out west . I truly wish my Dad were alive and reading this because I know he would have really enjoyed. This book is also a wonderful book of the preacher getting God message out, It has lots of twists and turns to keep the preacher from leaving town. Also keeps you wanting to find out more and what will happen next, did not think at first I would feel this way, but now am looking forward to what will happen next. A must read, It is well worth your time and the purchase.
I'm obviously one of the few who can't rave about how great this book is. It was just okay and honestly, I had a tough time getting through it. I did like the fact the main character was able to be a preacher and a gunslinger. The author was able to weave them together well.
Other parts of the book were too unrealistic, bordering on silly. The way they talked sounded like an old B movie. We heard about the code of the west way too much and the fact he killed so many men just days after he arrived in town was improbable.
I remember watching westerns , back when it was easy to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Redeeming Reputation is a return to the old west, but Nathan Ryder is such an extraordinary hero, he puts the rest to shame. He's faster on the draw and never misses his target, and there's never been a horse he couldn't ride. Added to that, he knows how to present the Gospel in a way that will win the soul of even the most hardened criminal. As an added bonus, there's just enough romance to make me sigh at the HEA. I'll be keeping an eye out for more westerns by this author.
