Love's Rhythm was a burning up the pages type of read, due to the intense sexual chemistry between Nick and Lauren. At it's core it answers that age old question of any fan of music..who was the inspiration behind a Rock Star's mega hit. I immediately thought of Layla by Eric Clapton or You're So Vain by Carly Simon, for years people have wondered what is the real story behind those epic songs, who were they singing about. In Love's Rhythm Rock God Nick Blackthorne has an epiphany 15yrs after he walked out on Lauren his first love for fame. She was the reason for his songs that got him noticed in the music industry. Lauren was his muse, he poured his heart out on those songs about their relationship. And now he's changed, he wants a real life not the life of a rock star, but the life of a loving family. Something solid that would last a lifetime with the women that held his heart and soul in the palm of her hand. But first he has to find her and beg her forgiveness and hope like hell she will take him back.

A lot of things can change in 15yrs, has Nick set himself an impossible task. You will have to read Love's Rhythm to find out. This couple was HOT for each other, Nick knew what he wanted and went after Lauren like a runaway freight train, once back together they were like a starving man at a feast. Lauren's body was telling her yes while her mind kept telling her maybe. But when you've got the love of your life begging for forgiveness and sexing you up it is only a matter of time before you give in and hold on tight to your heart's desire.

Loved this story, I do feel it ended abruptly. I wanted to experience Lauren and Nick as a family unit. An epilogue would have been a nice touch. Also I wished the author had started the story 15yrs earlier, maybe a chapter or 2 so the reader could experience Lauren and Nick's coming together and their breakup. That would have made LR a much more powerful story, the reader experiencing the entire cycle of their romance. The big secret was not a big secret if you read romance, I loved how the secret was revealed. I also would like to put in a request for a book about Aslin, maybe pair him up with Lauren's friend Jenny.

I REALLY wanted to like this book. REALLY bad! I love the rock star bad boy romance/erotica books, but this one just fell short for me.

I liked the main characters, but everything seemed so rushed. The first time Nick and Lauren meet again he starts making out with her. He hasn't seen her in 15 years, he dumped her to become famous and have groupies, and she doesn't really fight it at all. The book is 90% sex, 10% plot and the plot is weak. I guess I just prefer my erotica to be slightly more deep.

If the sex was actually sexy, I could deal with the plot being a little less than stellar... but the sex was kind of weird. Couper uses a lot of awkward terms during sex scenes that are jarring and completely ruin it for me. Anytime there is gushing, it kind of destroys the scene.

I probably would have liked this better with toned down and more well written sex scenes, and another 100 pages of character development and plot. For a a short novella, it wasn't terrible... I just think this author's style is not my thing. I also can't justify paying $3+ for a novella when there are a LOT of amazing full length self published novels on Amazon for $2.99 and under.

2.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat Weak Story with a Huge Amount of Harsh Language and Trashy Descriptions

This could have been a really great rock star romance but it wasn't, in my opinion. There was just something about Lauren, the heroine, that I did not care for. Shame on her for keeping her secret. She just about wrecked three lives.

My biggest disappointments were the 100+ uses of the F-bomb and more than 30 instances of using God's name in vain. That is a big turn off for me. Why is there such a need for overuse? I am aware that in Rock Star type books authors feel it is a necessary word because that is how it is in the real world. But enough is enough. Are there not any other words or phrases to use than repeating the same one more than 100 times? In my opinion the language caused the book to feel cheap.

I, personally, have read a Rock Star Romance, my favorite book of all times, and it did not contain a single swear word. It was a deep, rich, fabulous book that was a class act to the maximum degree. On the other hand, I have read a very, very good Rock Star Romance that made my Top Five Favorites of All Times, and it was loaded with foul language but had an incredible storyline.

In all honesty and Good Conscious I could not recommend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tough to finish......

Love's Rhythm was almost a "Did Not Finish" for me. Parts of it were great. The basic second chance romance plot was good. The biggest problem was that the character's actions and words especially regarding sex were not only unbelievable they were ridiculous. The idea that a kindergarten teacher who has not seen an ex boyfriend in 15 years would have sex with him minutes after they are reunited is just totally out of characters. And the Hero, Nick who is suppose to be a man of words - speaks quite vulgarly during sex. The dialogue of both characters during romantic times was really off putting. No mother would speak like that especially to someone they had not even spoken to in 15 years. Her dialogue was really out of character.

Pros:
Second Chance romance plot.
Josh - a very funny 15 year old.
Complete novel - NO CLIFFHANGER! - Thank you Ms. Couper.

Cons:
THE DIALOGUE!!!! - YUCK!
The story contained a lot of Australian - slang words and not enough context clues to figure out what the words mean.
Instant love - See took him back after 15 year without even one date......

3.0 out of 5 stars OVERALL I LIKED IT, BUT

There were a few issues I had with this. Having not read any of the other books in this series, or even read this author before, I did not find it too difficult to pick up what had happened between Nick and Lauren in the past. Now in the present day it seems that Nick has had an epiphany and has decided to track down the girl he fell in love with all those years ago. His aim to get her back, or minimally to apologise. Lauren is a kindergarten teacher, and lives and works in her and Nick's hometown. She has made a life for herself. Lauren has not seen or heard from Nick in all those years, since he left her behind lured by fame fortune and sex with the countless groupies!

So when he turns up out of the blue, I was totally amazed that within an hour she was naked with him, really! That set the tone of the story, multiple sex scenes. Which IMO detracted from the plot. Okay Nick is the most famous and sexy rock star on the planet, but surely a serious discussion between them would have been nice. Especially as Lauren has a secret that will probably devastate Nick.

The author is obviously a good writer, I just felt that sex scenes were used here to carry the story forward, I would have preferred a little more substance in the storyline. Nick was just too used to getting his own way, while Lauren should have had more of a backbone.

A good book, not what I expected.........mined you haven't read anything from this author before and I loved it. A rather hot steamy book I must say.........
The book is about Nick and Laureen and goes back some 15 years; which is sad in some places, and also very funny, I do feel for Nick and the life he took, anyway won't give too much away because you have to read it...........a must!
The author is a extremly good writer and I look forward to some more of her books. *****

Rock star love story. A great story. Nick deserted his one true love, 15 years ago. Since then he has ridden the rock star train but there is no destination just constant travel. His heart belonged to his love & now was the time to make right his wrong & apologise. More disclosures, love, fame, acts of passion & sheer animal attractions. More love than sex, I really enjoyed a different slant on rock star romance.

Really liked this book, it was an enjoyable Sunday read. I like the main characters and Lauren' s best friend was funny. The only thing I would say is the plot is a little predictable but that did not spoil my enjoyment of this great book.
