I liked the blend of Epic Fantasy and horror that the author was going for. It's hard to find that kind of fantastic fiction anywhere in print these days, unless its Stephen King (and he's wrapped up his series already, say thank-ya). So this book scratched a much-needed itch that I forgot I had. Jake Quigley is a cool everyman who I hope to encounter again, and also there also seemed to be a proto-western theme going on at one point that was interesting. I couldn't find any real spelling errors that were too bad, and the formatting was good. Well worth the price point I paid of 2.99! Going to order the sequel as soon as I finish this one.

Hopefully there is a sequel as the ending leaves much unexplained. The characters are interesting but could use some development to explain their motivation and decision making.
I like this book quite a bit . I agree with some of the other reviews in that there could've been more depth of the characters and more development of the world's that the main character Jacob visited . I am used to reading much more complex and advanced sci-fi fantasy and found this book a tad simplistic . I feel it would be better for a young reader then for an adult sci-fi reader who is used to reading far more developed plot and character . I also agree with other comments made it was nothing to say whether there is a sequel to this book and the ending just dropped you cold.
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book from Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review. That being said, I enjoyed reading this young adult novel. The author weaves a very descriptive tale, complete with dragons and challenges that the hero needs to be overcome. The ending left me wondering if this book will be followed up by a sequel. Overall, this is a very good read. There is a very small amount of violence in this book in keeping with the story line. Very good young adult book. I highly recommend it.

This book was surprisingly good, in fact it was hard to put down at times. I'm hoping there will be a sequel as the ending definitely leaves an opening for one. Mr. Beshears is a skillful writer, this wasn't his first novel, but I like his style and want to read more by him. Yes, I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review but if I hadn't like it so much I would say so, too. The dragons weren't fierce, at least not with Jake, hero of the story, as they were guardians and therefore (with the exception of one) they viewed him as a friend of sorts. There was a small amount of violence, what was necessary for the story, but nothing graphic - just good story telling!
