I really enjoyed reading Professor Schulman’s book Nutrition in Sickness and in Health. I found that it was very relatable to my daily lifestyle. I think many of us have the desire to being as healthy as we possibly could, but we often have issues finding the right support system and resources that can help us be consistent on the journey. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone interested in their nutrition and health. Each chapter focuses on an issue that readers might face during their daily life. For example, cooking properly can become a big issue for first- timers such as college students. All in all, I really enjoyed this book because it was an easy reader, and worked really well as a wonderful reference book.

This is a book for anyone who cares about eating right and living a healthy lifestyle, but has been frustrated by all of the complex and contradictory information out there. Dr. Jessica Schulman, a registered dietitian and health educator, sorts the wheat from the chaff, drawing from the latest research on health and nutrition to offer useful guidelines for healthy living in down-to-earth language. The 14 chapters should be of interest to both parents and practitioners, covering topics like dealing with food allergies, evaluating so-called "functional foods", developing a balanced diet for children, and eating healthy while traveling. Through her many examples and case studies, Dr. Schulman makes the material lively and entertaining. I learned a lot from this book, and expect to return to it again and again. Highly recommended!
Dr. Schulman provides great, detailed information in a uniquely easy-to-understand presentation. I especially like that the author included references after each chapter in case further reading is wanted. There's plenty of scientific details (not surprising given the incredible number of letters after Jessica's name), but there's also lots of practical advice, particularly Chapter 4 "Healthy Eating Away from Home." Great read, highly recommend.
