5.0 out of 5 stars Another Wonderful Book By My Favorite Author

What a wonderful start to this new series. I loved the subtle allusion to Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" in the title/theme of this book/series - but then Josh has shown us, in various books, that he has an extensive handle on classical music. I chuckled at the humor interspersed throughout the book - sometimes snarky, sometimes gentle - but always most apropos to a particular situation between the main characters - a hallmark of his writing. And while I do not normally seek out paranormal stories, this little gem (and presumably those to follow) gave me much reading pleasure and made me really and truly want to believe in ghosts and troubled spirits and things that go bump in the night. And finally, I would be completely remiss if I didn't mention what a kick I got out of seeing the appearance of Stephen and Mark from his "I Spy" series, a special favorite of mine. Hopefully we will see more of them in future books - I have a strong suspicion that Mark, in particular, could help Kirk with some of the demons that seem to haunt him.

There is one very bleak pronouncement by Flynn that wrenched my heart and by the end of the book I was not certain that this issue had been resolved. Most likely it has not and I look forward to how Josh, and his two MCs, deal with this in future books.

All in all - another outstanding piece of writing by my favorite author!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved Flynn and Kirk

Josh Lanyon's books are a pleasure to read... the dialogue flows so naturally and the storyline is always compelling. While I normally do not care for paranormal/fantasy books, I'm always happy to suspend belief for Josh Lanyon because he does not take it over the top. Once again he is giving us two interesting, quirky, likeable main characters who have real problems and flaws: Flynn and Kirk. They are very different physically but have a strong emotional connection. Josh Lanyon does a great job with slowly building their friendship and attraction to one another in a realistic way... also showing us their vulnerabilities. I especially love the way he describes facial expressions or posture to let us know how the character really feels in a situation.... and Josh knows just the right words to use to pull my heartstrings at the right moment. And as always, I love the humor that is off beat and interjected at the most inappropriate time... Ha! Rarely do I go back and reread passages in a book.. but I did with this one... much like I did with "Come Unto These Yellow Sands" (which I've read three times... a first for me!). My only complaint... I want more and longer!!! (sounds dirty... but you know what I mean!) ... however, I see he has three more books planned in this series, so all I have to say is: "Hurry, Josh!!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh how I hope there's a sequel soon!

I didn’t mean to pick this up. Or, well, I mean: I bought it, but I didn’t mean to actually start reading at the point in time when I did. It was already late. I should have been sleeping. But there was the Kindle app, this eerie yet wistful cover, and before I knew it I opened the book up and there was no turning back.

Not-so-secret confession: I have a huge thing for antiques. No, really. I’m the kind of person who will yell at people for trying to change the channel when any antiques roadshow comes on. Old things are absolutely fascinating - just thinking about in whose life the item may have played a part, what it’s seen . . . the mind boggles.

I also heart ghost stories. Especially the kind when the haunting gets personal, yet creepy, and oh my goodness this story just has all of it.

Instead of sleeping, I finished the book. As darkness had thoroughly claimed my room at this point, and the haunting still haunted me, too, I was at least glad that the relationship (view spoiler) subplot of the book was so comforting.

The author has claimed (on his Goodreads profile, which I thoroughly stalked - no shame whatsoever there) there may be a second installment of this series late this year - and oh, how I hope that is true. But honestly, even if it takes two years more, I would be up for waiting, too. I could take it. I think. I just hope I won’t have to.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great ghost story but not much romance

Normally I like more romance than this book had in my stories but the haunting was so well done that I ended up really enjoying this book. It's definitely more ghost story than romance though - in fact other than one sex scene that seemed to be more about being lonely than the beginnings of a romance there wasn't much to the relationship in this book. However, it does cover a short time frame and is this was obviously written to continue the story/romance between the two MCs. This is definitely more of a ghost story than a romance. The story is all from Flynn's POV and he is still grieving the loss of his partner so there wasn't even much sexual tension in this story. Kirk really intrigued me and I hope we get more about his background. Of course I noticed the first book was written years ago and there is still no sequel so that is a bit disheartening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not so much a love story as a perfect one.

If you want to read something different than the usual stories then this may
be the book for you. Its got everything a good book should have.including one of the best authors to write it.
Everything written by Josh Lanyon is great and such a perfect read that it is hard not to want to be part of the story.
This is a great book about the difficulties one young man has to face after the death of his partner and the help he got from a worried neighbour when his problems became a little bit different and hard for him to deal with.
A first class hard to put down book and a perfect read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Audibook is done well

Really wellwritten ghost-story m/m romance (how many genres is that?) with beautifully-drawn characters who felt like people you'd meet in real life. This is intended apparently as the first in a series but nothing in the book depends on being part of a series - no trailing plots or characters which leap up and down and cry out "sequel bait"!

Super creepy story but with a nice conclusion, I really liked the building relationship between the two characters and the suggestion of future stories is really tantalising. I will definitely be buying the next instalment if and when it arrives.
