After reading all of the reviews for this book, I thought, 'Hey, give it a whirl!'
Eh. It started out pretty decent, and I was pleased that the author managed to write in that POV, and still keep it witty. Sometimes when books are written like that, it sounds like a teenage girl is talking into a recorder and every word is being written down, as it was spoken. Thankfully, this book was not so. As we progressed, however, my opinion on her writing changed. I had to go double check and make sure I wasn't reading the second book in a series. Her former friends? Their powers? The Circle? Where was the backstory? And I'm not even asking for that much, just a little bit! I was confused. All we know is, Katia rose to popularity, leaving her former friends behind. Why does Elena hate her? It was hinted at, but seriously. And the ending! I won't spoil it, but I was disappointed. That whole climax, and a snap of the fingers and the problem disappears. When I got to the end of the book, I couldn't believe it. I thought surely there had to be more to the book than that! It took me a minute to figure out, 'No, that is the ending'.
The romance was cute, intense enough for me to enjoy reading it without thinking they were living off cotton candy and the sky rained flower petals for them. All in all, it was an okay read. I probably won't read it again. If you are looking for a story with a hot guy and a hot girl overcoming anything thrown at them, without a good backstory this is your book.
