This book was terrible. I don't expect literary fiction when I buy a paranormal fantasy/romance like this, but this was just unbearable. The main character is the most flat, predictable, annoying, idiotic, sophomoric ditz I have encountered to-date. Seriously, a walking lobotomy! Add to that that I bought the audiobook and in addition to the stupid characters and story there was this sing-song, over-done, "fingernails on chalkboard" narration. I tried repeatedly to get through it because I hate not finishing a book (even a bad one), but I made an exception with this. Unfortunately I bought the 2nd book at the same time I bought this one, needless to say I won't even attempt it!
I have read other books by this author that weren't terrible but I recommend that you save your money and avoid this one, unless you like "too stupid to live" characters. I found myself talking back to this audiobook (playing on Echo) like I was a guest host on Mystery Science Theater 3000, replying to the utterly ridiculous things this character thought and said, with mean, snarky comments but after awhile even that lost its entertainment value. I hate to give a bad review to a book, but this was too annoying to let it slide!
