The story starts off with Kat coming to stay in Louisiana for an unknown time. In the beginning, you don't know why she was sent away. To Kat, this world is so different from her life in California. However, Kat tries to blend in. Really liked that Jennifer Davis wrote Kat to be rich but very likeable.
Kat meets the family that she will be staying with and gradually becomes one of them. The sisters Shelby and Bit are a hoot. Bit is the most accepting. Shelby is just somewhat reserved. Russ is their brother and he is great too. Garret is the brother who acts like a slut. I liked how the story was set up, all the while the reader wonders why Kat was sent away. The other characters that are secondary but felt primary keep the story moving on. Two of those characters are Dixie who had an instant dislike to Kat and Mason. There's so much I would love to say about Mason, but there isn't enough pages. Will just say Mason is hot and the chemistry he and Kat have is so steamy.
The pace of this story builds nicely and then bam Kat is called home. Sigh... I was a little disappointed how Kat left it with Mason or her new Louisiana family. Needless to say, no spoilers, but the reader does get an ending. 4.5 stars. Would love to see more on these characters.
