I'm always looking for books that I can purchase and have in my virtual library to read to my grandchildren. I found this book to be completely enchanting. It ticks all the boxes: it has wonderful drawings that kids will love, and the story teaches on so many levels. Not only is the story about respect and friendship, the reader will discover interesting facts about bears too. The author has also injected humour into the mix. A truly delightful story. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Okay, I don't consider myself a bear expert, but I did think I knew a fair amount about them. In this entertaining book, I found out just how much I didn't know. A bear nest? Really? That was a complete surprise. And mother bears sometimes giving birth while asleep? (Hmmm. Not a bad idea actually!)
The illustrations are cute. I particularly liked the pictures near the end of the book which are a hybrid of real bear photos and drawings.
This is a great book to teach your children facts about bears. The facts are interwoven with a fun story. Children won't realize they're learning. But later they'll be telling you all kinds of facts about bears. If you are a grown-up who just loves bears, get it for yourself! A fun read!
This was a great book with lots of cute pictures. I read this to my nephew and he loved it, as did I. We both enjoyed all the extra pictures of bears at the end of the book. A very fun read for small kids, and big kids at heart.
