Finally, a truly efficient, incredibly accessible read that pulls together the best focal points for peak executive performance. I work with a lot of powerful women who manage companies, departments, projects and people, and this is the book that I regularly recommend to them all for a highly effective, balanced book. It's perfect for the plane ride, with tightly-written sections and 100 power-punched tips, and offers key advice and commentary to clearly illustrate the points. Also like the assessment that Wright offers, so that you can see immediate results. It's one of those books that you can go back to over and over again, and each time something new and effective reveals itself.
This book reminds really smart people how to live a satisfying life. What is the "complete executive"? It's the high-level person at a company who exhibits and practices living a life that others aspire to live. This book helps zoom the lens out so that you can focus on shoring up all the things that make your life a complete package. In all the years I've worked with and known top executives and owners of small businesses, their number one challenge is creating the space to take in the broader view and evaluate the big picture again. By that I mean, what's the infrastructure needed to continue to be the visionary of their company?
Karen Wright adds her sense of humor and wit to make this book fun to read. And she offers a lot of "ah ha moments" to remind you of why you're here, doing what you're doing. It's a deep sigh, a breath of fresh air, the space one needs to find themselves, empower themselves to take care of their own creative engine.
I also love that each section is an affirmation. It follows with a definition of how to make that affirmation ring true for your life! Brilliant!
Lastly, I love the crisp white, soft pages and the size of the book - but that's just me. :)
I love the simple approach to a complex subject - how to be our best at work and at home. Filling out the assessment - honestly - will reveal places for improvement. That makes it so much easier to make methodical and sustainable change.
The author, a respected executive coach, doesn't pontificate from her well-earned seat as an expert. Instead, she simply reveals what she's seen work for her clients.
A must-read for anyone who wants to feel and do better at work and at home. Perfect for those who don't have a lot of time to read but who want the insights that Karen Wright can offer.
I discovered this book indirectly through our company's in-house training program. Too often we're directed to pick up bloated, textbooks on leadership philosophy, or best practices.
Then, I noticed our CEO had actually read, and wrote a recommendation for Karen Wright's book. The Complete Executive is packed full of concise, actionable, and most importantly PROVEN methods and considerations for executives at every level. It's a fast read, and it is knowledge rich.
Karen has gleaned 17 years worth of lessons from her career as a C-Level coach to give the rest of us a peak into the C-suite. Highly recommended.
This book is terrific, and should be in the library of anyone who aspires to be an extraordinary leader. In The Complete Executive, Karen Wright provides an in-depth, detailed look into the life of highly successful executives. Yes, there are lots of business books that talk about how to be successful, or how to chase the magical "work/life balance" -- but none that I've read go into such clear, concise (and well-written) detail -- and give you a measuring tool to boot. The assessment allows you to see where you are now, and to plot a course forward.
An indispensable, step-by-step, guide to build a legacy. Highly recommended.
I checked out this book on a recommendation from a friend, and I wasn't disappointed. It's an excellent 360 degree view of what it takes to have a sustainable career as a business leader and gives exceptional tips to follow in getting there. Perhaps the best part is the easy to read format. You can easily use it as a reference guide after your first read. The table of contents on Kindle is easy to use and then hyperlink to the chapter that most interest you. Enjoy!
This book is for business owners, true. But it is also for anyone wants to succeed in their work. What Karen Wright does so well is to simply help aspiring leaders stay focused on the stuff that matters. Easy to read and understand, "The Complete Executive" helped me know where my work performance was lacking so that I could attend to those areas where I needed the most work.
I can't recommend this book enough. I hope that people pick it up in order to become the leaders that they dream of becoming.
This book will help you understand what holds you back from superior performance and what you need to do to empower your improvement. It will give you areas of focus for working with a coach or mentor.
