This is my first book by this author and although I enjoyed the storyline and the characters, I found the style of writing was unlike any I've read before. Because of that, it took me longer than normal to get into the book itself. I found I kept putting the book down, walking away thinking about what I just read. Once I got used to Rowan's style of writing and had become comfortable with it, I sailed through the story. I have several favorite authors whom all have similar styles of writing and as such, Rowan's style was vastly different than what I'm used to. Not that it was a bad style, just different. ☺️
This story had many different facets to it with all kinds of twists and turns. A few of the characters needed more development and depth, to my way of thinking. Maybe in the next book. 😳 There is one character that I'm praying gets his just deserts in the next book.....looking forward to that!😜 We'll see! Between the above paragraph and the next, is the reason for a 3 star rating. If some of my questions are answered in the next books, I may come back and change my rating.
With that said, the only other thing about this book was the ending. It abruptly ended with many, many loose ends left hanging. I'm hoping the answers will be in the rest of the series' books. So, I'm off to book two looking for answers.....wish me luck! Happy reading! Cheers! 🍻
