No conclusion. And no warning that the story doesn't end. No indication it wasn't more than a two book series. Getting to the end was like having a DVD removed right near the end of a great story. No book even listed as coming up in the series. Loved the story and wanted and ending.
I originally purchased the first book in the series as part of Legends: 15 Tales of Sword and Sorcery which was a great purchase for $0.99. The first book was intriguing enough to purchase the second book, although I found the sequel to be a bit of a letdown. The book continues the concept of telling the story from multiple characters' viewpoints which helps keep the story exciting. Again, I don't think it would be as successful if it was written as a 1st person story. Spell Realm has a hint of Game of Thrones to it with multiple characters vying to take over power of the realm, but thankfully Spell Realm is without the absolute chaos and brutality to it. I wasn't a fan of the twist at the end. It did feel incomplete and although the ending has a unique twist to it that could potentially be interesting if book 3 was ever published; it's not published to date, so leaving a series hanging without a conclusion is another letdown. Even if another book was published, I don't think I would necessarily purchase it.
Liked the series, but it's not finished. Was waiting for the 3rd, and possibly final book, then realized it was written years ago. The author has no intention of finishing the series. The second book is obviously begging for a conclusion, but other reviewers are correct in pointing out that the author has abandoned this beautiful story. There is no third book.
The Spell Realm was a wonderfully off normal combination of fantasy, science fiction, and sorcery. A realm where I have never traveled before. It is a continuation of the wonderful Volume 1 with continuity of characters and storyline. No abrupt changes to ruin the story. The storyline is unusually intriguing and character development is terrific, especially those of the main characters Gala and Blaise. I won't let you in on the story as I wish you the blessing of experiencing it in full, without hints of what's to come. Highly recommended!
I script at work so I love that idea as a way to manipulate magic. Can I learn how do program magic now, please? As for the rest of the book, I love the situations Gala gets put into plus how she manages to get our of them and grow. I enjoyed the multiple plot lines including the coup, the jilted lover, the romance, the fugitives, and the mysterious entity. If that isn't too many things to follow, then you'll love this book.
Highly recommend as the writer puts himself so into the story you get a glimpse of his incredible mind, both in his love of story telling, the most beautiful aspects of living, and the mathematical equations that make his and possibly our realm exist. While that may not sound interesting to some, it's also an amazing romance between a highly unlikely pair. Some of the best science fiction I have read period. Well done & I hope there's a movie...
Dina, I have read both books 1 & 2 and enjoyed both very much. This is a very interesting story on many levels. The characters are refreshingly interesting and entertaining and the story line is exceptional. I don't know how you authors come up with such great stories but I am glad that you do. I highly recommend reading this story although I do not appreciate the sexual content very much. Your story is definitely an adult theme.
