Don't get me wrong. I like the short story genre, and love SF as a literary form. It allows for the exploration of the things that all books explore, but in an environment that is not delimited by our particular place and time. It's not as though the writing was bad in these stories. It's not. It's just that there was nothing captivating about any of them, no one author whose talent stood out, no use of the alternate reality that was especially well played. Some of the stories had moments of suspense, some had a nice surprise or two. There was one about preserving the martian aboriginals that had a nice social message. No real page turners, in my humble opinion.
Bought it for a plane flight and it was worth about that.
