Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโt use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
First off, this book is an easy read. I think I read the whole thing in less than 4 hours. What makes it particularly easy, for me though, is the conversation style Mike uses in his writing. If you watch the videos above, that is exactly how he writes...my wife often gave me a weird look when I blurted out laughing. Again, if you follow Mike's musings at all, you understand why.
Hands down, this book is worth it's weight in gold because of the confidence that it will build. The chapters on what to charge for work, contracts and sticking to your process makes one feel that they are not on an island as we all deal with these same issues, but Mike will fire you up to deal with it professionally and in a manner that will make you look like an even bigger asset to the client or proposed client. And in the end, if you don't get the client, you can feel confident that you did everything that you wanted to do to make it happen and can roll on to the next one without any regret.
I'm about half way through this book and it's been really easy and a blast to read. There's some great nuggets of info and a refreshing view of the design business. I'm a 25+ year design veteran so a lot of what Mike shares is definitely right-on-target and I really enjoy his point of view and commentary on how he and his colleagues have chosen to handle some situations. Totally worth the read and there's always something new to learn too. :-D
I had to get this for a class in my graphic design program and thought it would be just another one of those books you had to buy. I started to read it just to get a feel for it before we had to actually do any required readings so I would know if it was dry, or if it was going to be an easy read. To make a long story short I ended up reading the whole book before our first required reading. This is one of those books that's full of insightful information, told in witty way, that will inevitably be a reference for future scenarios in dealing with some of those hard to tackle subject like dealing with money, and client relationships.
One of the best books I've read on design in a long time. I'm a huge fan of Mike Monterio and have had the pleasure of seeing him speak in person. This should be required reading for all designers. Mike is able to teach in such a compelling way and is sure to have you laughing and inspired just a few pages in...
