An excellent source of information and inspiration to be proactive in our own diagnosis and treatment. Jim went through the usual scenario of being misdiagnosed and changing doctors until he found the one who was willing to take him a partner in his own care and listened to him. The one size fits all treatment is not working, it needs to be tailored individually as it happened in Jim's case. Jim's story is a real inspiration for people who suffer with any kind of disease not only thyroid and related problems. He took the initiative to educate himself and used his knowledge to find the best possible treatment for his condition including the right medication, nutrition and supplements. I am an advocate of integrated therapy which means that we use modern diagnostic methods and medications in combination with healing foods, herbal medicine and vitamins that are tailored to the individual's condition and needs. Jim's observation about EBV and autoimmune thyroid disease connection was laughed at ten years ago, but so were many other scientists who discovered connections such as stomach ulcer and the presence of bacteria in the stomach by German scientists in 1875. Their theory was proven by Dr Warren and Dr Marshall in Australia in 1982 that H. Pylori causes ulcers, but it took another fifteen years or so to be accepted.
