5.0 out of 5 stars An uplifting book to have

This is a wonderful book to have on hand, especially if you have been feeling under the weather as of late or know someone who is.

R.L. Adams explains various ways to self-charge yourself with positive thoughts and energy by being aware of the negative beliefs in your conscious and subconscious mind that can bring you down. He does away with common beliefs that money and material things can make you happier. Past experiences can shape the way we pursue happiness, and he explains how to see if we are headed in the right or wrong direction because of them.

"How to be Happy" is a great read that will boost your positive outlook on life!

5.0 out of 5 stars User friendly techniques

You never really think about the actual process of being happy or especially getting happy when you are sad. RL Adams is the first person that told me that "it's not hard to go from unhappy to happy". Really? I guess I never really thought about it. The suggestions offered in  How to be Happy - An Inspirational Guide to Discovering what Happiness is and How to Have More of it in your Life (Inspirational Books Series)  are so simple and easy to implement. I love the active action steps shared in the book. I have decided to try putting a time limit on how long I will allow myself to stay anger, sad or upset then I'll implement the techniques and quickly get back to being happy using the step-by-step techniques shared in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't you want to be happy?

I think everyone can say that they want to be happy. The problem is we all pursue happiness differently and most people pursue happiness the wrong way. We look for things to make us happy. This book does an excellent job in breaking down happiness. It talks about what is keeping you from being happy to different things you need to do in order to feel happy. The best thing is, the author talks about all the things we think make us happy but really don't. Everybody wants to be happy. So why don't you take some time to read this book to see if you are going in the right direction in your pursuit of happiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting compact read on looking at the bright side of life

Very good.

I agree with plenty of the author's points, like focusing on the positive things in life -- and how telling one lie requires many others to cover up the initial lie.

Like it says in Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

That's what came to my mind as I read the writer's points on retraining your brain to not think of the negative things in life, like the man in the book who assumed his wife was cheating when she didn't answer her cell phone at midnight while out with the girls.

Seeking joy, following our bliss -- I too believe these things are better than being a Debbie Downer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Other side of the coin to The Silk Merchant

This is a great follow up to the Silk Merchant. The Silk Merchant was a metaphorical and allegorical. This book is the other side of that coin. The Cliff Notes versions so to speak? I'm aging myself. Sparknotes? Never mind. Anyway, this the straight forward form of the methods and philosophy which R L Adams delved into in The Silk Merchant.

Whether a metaphorical story or a straight forward analysis is better, who's to say. Both lit up different areas and complimented each other. I recommend reading both, and struggling with neither. The points missed in one will be picked up in the other.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Step closer to Happiness with this Gem of a Book

Free! That’s what calls me to books on Amazon. Also, being a prime member helps me find books for free that others would dismiss as insignificant. Such is the case with this book—simply put, uplifting and inspiring.

I’ve said often to students, peers and friends, “Life is a cauldron of negativity that aims to steal every ounce of happiness.” Is that true for you? Is that true for the person next to you? If so, does it alter the way you view life and, as this book suggests, rob you of happiness?

This is a book I highly recommend to a world yearning for contentment—for the joy that often eludes them. It forces you to introspectively look at life because after all, you, me, we are responsible for the happiness around us.

I enjoy books that ask questions, in which this book does quite well. Critical thinking, but not really requiring deep thought, is the perfect synopsis of this book. I promise, for the relatively low price of this book, you’ll enrich your life into the wings of happiness that others wish for.
