I read in a review that this book reminded the reviewer of Naruto, an ongoing manga about ninjas/shinobis I have been reading for some time now, and I have to say that agree with him/her. This book was a breath of fresh air among the many kindle books I have read so far. The magic system was described in detail and character development was also handled very nicely. I have a few gripes with this book however. First, the world it takes place in seems very small. It seems that the whole world consists of a few small villages and towns. Even Heaven's Shelter does not seem like a city to me which is surprising because it is depicted as pretty advanced and it is a place our protagonist spends a lot of time in. Second, the philosophical talks tend to get a little out of hand. It is not that I don't enjoy some healthy philosophical discussions but it should not be a major part of the book by any means. Besides that I felt that the author did a good job with the story and I would definitely recommend this book to others. It wasn't a great book but it certainly was good enough for it's price tag.
The renegade series just took flight...W A NUCLEAR POWERED JET PACK!!! this book(#2 in series) expanded on the 1st, and remained true to its core. Do you like action...super powers and non super- super powers? Do you like fighting, weapons, mortals in combat? Enjoy magic...magic that doesnt seem impossible and over stretched? Have you ever craved more of something, and been rewarded w more than you expected? Have you ever found yourself immersed into something you would have thought you wouldnt give a second glance too? If you pick up this book, you'll b able to relate to all that and more. this book has plenty of good reviews, and im not a big typer as it is... but do yourself a favor and take a chance on the 1st book and you'll come back for more... NOW...thats where most of us are at....craving more like a drug addict w out a paycheck? so Mr. Fiske, give us more....i mean, well... we NEED IT....uhm, NOW!!!
I have enjoyed reading the work of this author for sometime. Now when my old eyes hurt, I can sit back and let the book read to me. Thanks a wonderful way to pass time. This book as all his others has a wonderful set of characters that I find myself identifying with. The story line is easy to handle, yet beneath the surface lies a world of areas to contemplate. Jimmy A. Garland author and reader
I have to say I loved the first book in this series, but this one really did it for me. I felt like I really got to know all the characters a lot better and I could actually picture them all in my mind. It was nice to watch Gisbo grow from the first book as well. I loved all the twists and when I picked up the book, I couldn't put it back down! Cannot wait to read the next book!
Fiske did it again! He brought on the development of Gisbo with another work of art! If you were a fan of the first installment of the renegade series then you must get this one. Gisbo takes his skills to the lands of his forefathers in an epic adventure! This book had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish!
The story does a great job of answering missing questions from the first book and leaves you with many more for the future novels! If you have not had a chance to read these book and are a true fan of fantasy you will instantly be addicted to the fantastic series Fiske has brought to life.
Awesome book. Very well written and extremely engaging. It kept me very entertained throughout. Fiske also does a great job keeping the story moving seemlessly from the Renegade Rising. I definately recommend this whole series.
I have enjoyed both books so far. But one thing I have a problem with is that this one needed a little more proofing. In the 17th Chapter when Gibso and Foxblade are training, at one point is days Gibso teleporte Fao to them with wold game and then later talked about missing Fao being unable to teleport her to him without a ring.
I finished Renegade Reprisal in the wee hours of the morning, as with the first book this one was amazing as well. Very different from the first but equally as good if not better. I loved the fact that we got to see Gisbo grow and how he affects those around him, but still maintain his identity through everything that is happening. While the book is darker than the Renegade Rising I dont think it would have had the same impact without that darkness as the reader gets to see how each caracter develops and holds their own through their pain. J.C. Fiske you are an amazing writer and I am looking forward to more!
