I've heard about the Paleo diet before, but I didn't really know much about it or why I should care. This book was a great resource for educating myself on it and for learning the value of going to a Paleo diet. The theory goes that our ancestors lived on a very different diet than modern man and that processed food is a unnatural dietary component of our lives. That component is making us fat and keeping us unhealthy. This book explained the kind of diet I should be striving for in a easy to understand and formulatic way. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to Paleo or to folks who are just looking to try a different weight loss diet.
This is the smallest book. Its ok, its like every other book, it tells you why you should do this a million times and then you get to what you want. What you can and can't do. Its an ok book, at least its cheap. I wouldn't pay over 5.00 for it if you get free shipping. Its a really small book. Honestly all it is , is no sugar and starches. Its nothing different than all the other diets.
I have been eating Paleo diet in essence as I have been doing a 21 day Standard Process purification for the past 2.5 weeks which basically is the same as this diet we see that it is a lifestyle change that we cannot ever imagine. This book gives a great summary of the Paleo diet that could be very useful for anyone I'd highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get healthy the way the body designed it!
I have bee paleo for many years and this book gives a lot of false information. The book states that paleo diets are mostly vegetables with some meat and that saturated fat is to be avoided. Both of these are not true. The author does not have a good understanding of the subject. In several cases, he is just plain wrong.
If you are sitting on the fence wondering whether or not you are a caveman/cavewoman this well-written fast-paced book by Russell Dawson is a good way to find out. You can read through it easily in an hour and it is worth it, easy to understand.
It seems cave people ate game meat, a few fruits and vegetables, select nuts and oils, but no dairy, starches like pasta, or most carbs. That except for all that meat is doable for most people. Game meat can be fattening, rich, and a shame to eat. I think our best diet depends on our individual digestion.
Some people might still enjoy hunting and gathering. Most cave people died unless they could outrun a sabertooth tiger. The problem with the Paleo diet, not this book, is that we are no longer hunter/gathers. We are sitter/worriers. We can't burn the calories we get from a high fat meat diet. Besides there is the cholesterol. Stress, fatigue, pollution -in short- the modern world challenges digestion. But decide for yourself. I am glad Dawson wrote the book and hope he continues in his health research and writing..
