2.0 out of 5 starsSad disappointment

The writing in this book and its predecessor, The Time Thief, made me so sad. I have been an avid Katie MacAlister fan for a number of years and always wait expectantly for the next release. These stories were so formula and the characters so cardboard and stereotypical, really almost interchangeable, that even if she continues this series I will not continue to buy or read them. In fact, I felt like someone was ghost-writing for her and trying in vain to copy her style unsuccessfully. Katie's had a tough year and some, so I can still hope she will bounce back with characters as rich and developed as Aisling Grey and stories as exciting as that series.
5.0 out of 5 starsIf you Love MacAlister You'll Love The Time Theif Books

I liked The Art of Stealing Time a little more than the Time Thief, just because all of the afterlife setting was just so interesting. However, I did truly enjoy them both. Katie MacAlister writes in a witty style that literally makes me LOL sometimes and if I am reading in the same room as someone else is I have to pause here and there to say, "HA! Listen to this!" Her storylines are clever and fun and she includes some steam for the romance part of it. If you like funny, you like romance and you like paranormal this series will give you all three (As will the dragon as well as the dark ones series)
Katie McAllister has a unique writing style. She is always offering a wonderful story regardless the circumstances. It is her sense of humor that is stellar and makes everything she writes incredibly textured. She makes the dialogue sometimes direct and other times at cross-purposes with all the humor of a vibrant, messy household.
Katie Macalister is one of my all-timw favorite authors. She writes great adventures with strong characters. Mixing all emotions into a great ride from start to finish. No matter the subject, I so enjoy reading her books:)
If it says Katie MacAlister you know it's going to be good. Starting a new series can be tough as you learn the characters, but MacAlister is a master of making them come to life quickly. When you turn the last page of The Art Of Stealing Time you wish you could jump ahead in time until the next book comes out. Can't wait to start the next in the series.
I have read almost all Katie's books and loved them all but this second one in her new Time Thief series was hard to follow. The male lead role wasn't so much stealing time - think he only did it once, but more hopping into the "afterlife" somewhere in Wales, to save his new found love, where two feuding leaders were playing war games. This book shouldn't be dismissed but definitely needs another read which I will do at a later date.
