NaNoWri War Z: Hugh Howey Must Die!
First off, I have to say this Story is brilliant, irreverent, hilarious! I never would have believed a story about zombies would have me laughing so hard that I would have to stop reading and get a Kleenex because the tears in my eyes were blurring the pages.
This story is set in London during a writers challenge called NaNoWriWee where authors congregate and are challenged to write a book in 30 hours. This writing challenge takes place just as a zombie outbreak hits London. Now this is not just any zombie outbreak, oh no, these zombies have taste--they have a taste for GOOD writers! So watch out JK Rowling, watch out EL James...but wait....the zombies don't want you...they want the Good writers!!! In the midst of this, arrives the wonderful Hugh Howey for a book signing tour and who is, at first, totally oblivious of the outbreak.
As writers begin to fall one by one in the streets and homes of London, being turned into zombies themselves, the challenge goes on. As aspiring authors beg to be eaten as validation of their talent, secretaries and housewives are being consumed without realizing they even had talent.
The story culminates at the Tower of London where two brave authors, including our own Hugh Howey, and a very familiar character named Bombo, work with London police to attempt to end the zombie outbreak.
I can't express in mere words how deliciously wonderful this story is. It is a must read. You are doing yourself an injustice if you miss it.
This story is much grander than it's size would lead you to believe. This is a story of a young Amish man, Jed, who is going on a long journey to settle in the Amish Zone (AZ) of a distant planet.
The journey, however, is not quite what Jed expected. He ends up in the midst of turmoil and is close to losing complete control of his fate.
This story has, shockingly, one of the best cliffhanger endings I have read in a long time! Thank goodness there is going to be a Pennsylvania 2!
Want to take a trip through time? Then let's go......
This gem of a story begins with a Physics student named Malcolm interviewing scientists about time travel. What begins as a research project on theoretical time travel soon turns into much more. Malcolm teams up with a group of young people who are doing more than theorizing about traveling through time.
Michael Bunker has become a master of twists and turns in a story and this is no exception! Just when you think you have it figured out..then WHAM something unexpected happens! Of course, the ending leaves you with your mouth gaping open like an idiot! (I don't know how he keeps doing this)
So please come and take an exciting ride through time and meet some wonderful (and unexpected) characters. You won't be disappointed!
