Ana Kavannagh still has nightmares from the fire that claimed the lives of her mother and sister and left her scarred. She also feels abandoned by God. Living in a boardinghouse, Ana has built a new life for herself. She doesn't know that people from her past in Ireland want her dead. Eoghan Hamilton feels betrayed by his twin sister Cara for marrying his enemy. Working as a handyman at a church, he meets Ana. The lovely young woman stirs up his protective instincts. Even when she asks him to do the unbelievable - forgive his sister, he wants to please her. Yet when information comes to him that puts both himself and Ana in danger, he's willing to do anything he can to see her safe, including meeting with the brother-in-law he doesn't trust. Can these two troubled hearts find freedom and love together?

I've got to say that I enjoyed this book WAY more than the first one, No Safe Harbor. In the first one, I found myself rather bored with it. Not so with this one. This one captured my attention from the beginning and held it til the last page.

I really loved Eoghan in this book. I thought that he was a sweetheart and loved how even though he didn't intend to remain at the church, he found he couldn't resist the nuns. I also loved the way that he struggled with accepting his brother-in-law and forgiving his sister for marrying a man he considered an enemy.

The suspense in this book seemed more entwined throughout the story as opposed to the first book. While you don't have to read the first one first, it does help some.

I read this book for pure pleasure. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received my first Elizabeth Ludwig book of this series free through Bookbub. I enjoyed it so much, I ordered the second book in paperback. I have recently ordered and received the third book, although I haven't read it yet. Ms. Ludwig writes in such a way that the reader feels a part of the story. I love this series and would highly recommend it if you like good, clean reading. Since my first book was a Kindle edition, I ordered a paperback along with the other two books and will donate them to a church library.

This book was fantastic. I finished the first one a few days ago and couldn't wait to dive into this one. It picked up shortly after No Safe Harbor ended. And I liked that book, but I LOVED this one. We got to read Ana's story and learn more about her background before coming to America, something we only got a snippet of in No Safe Harbor. This one is romantic suspense at its best, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Eoghan.......took me forever to learn to pronounce it, but there were lots of practice as he is a main character. A setting long ago when America and New York were just beginning the long trek to where we are now. Intriguing characters, suspense, romance, and a overall good mystery. The author weaves a story that pulls you into life when it wasn't easy add to that someone trying to murder you and you have it a delightful tale that will keep your interest from first to last page. I had read book one and the knowledge of what had previously go e one just added a little more depth. Could be read as a stand alone story but I intend to buy the next one to finish the series. Tell you anything? Buy it

After finishing book one, I couldn't wait to start this volume and read about everyone from book 1 and now I cannot wait to read book 3 to see how this story gets resolved. I enjoy the characters and the different potential double crosses going on in the story.

Such a great story! And I love all the intrigue and mystery surrounding every character and their family! Add in the romance and the Christian perspective and you've got a great story! I always like it when an author continue the previous characters' stories in the other books and it was nice to see Rourke & Cara again. Great read and highly recommended!
