Bonnie Torres is a tough cookie no matter what way you look at it. She caught the eye of one her now employers, Benjamin Venec, while investigating the death of her father, and now she works for P.U.P.I. (Private, Unaffiliated, Paranormal Investigations). She and her team mates have talent with a capital T. When not blowing out the electricity of their dilapidated office in their efforts to refine their control of current (magic), they are out on the streets, investigating cases that the normal officials might never even hear of.
This time around there's accusations of attempted rape and murder, and all sides are claiming to be the victim. All four involved are Casa Nostradamus - members of the magical community. But to make matters more interesting, one of them is a Ki-Rin - one of the most highly revered peoples of the Fatae. Ki-Rin never lie, but this one's not talking to anyone.
This is the big one. If P.U.P.I. can solve this case, it will be a huge step toward being accepted by the Casa. If they fail, well. It was fun while it lasted. On top of it all, someone is targeting P.U.P.I. directly, subtly, trying to tear them apart. And then there's this weird mental connection Benjamin and Bonnie have developed, and she's not sure she likes it. She has a hard enough time trying to not think about him under normal circumstances without him *being* in her head all the time!
