i happened on this writer as a free book from one of my other faves. i read the first in the series and was hooked. she is now on my fave author lists. she writes charecters you care about and trust me when i say i have been reading alot of books that are mundane and boring. kudos for the fast pace and relationship development for deidre(my least fave tilling sister)and ayden, who sure could keep up with her. good fast pacing where you were never sure who was the good guys.
This book was fast-paced and very enjoyable. There were twists and turns that I didn't expect. There was actually a decent plot to go along with some hot sex. Ms. Pierce made the reading enjoyable with her style of writing. I'll be reading more of her work.
Deirdre Tilling has had her heartbroken. Two months ago, her girlfriend says she's found someone else and moves out, leaving Deirdre devastated. To help take her mind off things, her friend suggest she come with them to a house party. She agrees, dressing ultra sexy and hoping to catch the attention of someone that night. But the night doesn't go as she plans. She's rejected by a woman she thought was into her and then she's offered a job landscaping the grounds where the party is being held. Running off to have a moment to herself, she meets the man who will change her life.
Ayden Scott is trying to put the past behind him and prove that he's a good DEA agent. He's big chance is getting invited to a party at the house of the man who is running the drug cartel in the area. He's willing to use anyone and anything to crack this case and prove that he's a good undercover agent. Posing as Austin Schaeffer the drug dealer, Ayden mingles with the guest and then takes his leave to check the grounds. What he finds changes his life.
Deirdre and Ayden have a night of incredible passion that neither of them expected. Deirdre runs, afraid of what it all means. But when heroine is find in her truck and she's arrested, she runs to the one person she shouldn't...Ayden. And while he watched her tearful interrogation, he knows in his gut that she's being used as a pawn in a much larger scheme. Can Deirdre put her past hurts behind her and move forward with Ayden? Can Ayden unburden himself of his guilt and put his happiness first?
I enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and kept your interest in between the hot sex Deirdre and Ayden were having! (LOL!) They both were a bit broken at the beginning of this story and seemed to find their missing piece in each other. Despite what happened in their pasts, they were able to heal what was broken and find the happiness with each other they both craved.
The second book in the Dangerous Affairs / Tilling Passions series is an intriguing and entertaining quick read.
Landscaper Deirdre Tilling has been jilted for the third time is as many years and now giving up on love. Deciding on a one night stands, she finds herself heating up the sheets with a dark haired stranger that she met at her new employer’s party. One problem – one night might not be enough. DEA agenty, Ayden Scott is working undercover determined to bring down an elusive drug cartel smuggling drugs into central Maine and restore his reputation and get revenge for the death of his team member. He’ll use any means necessary to achieve his objective including sleeping with the feisty landscaper, Deirdre, he just didn’t count on that night being one neither can forget.
This fast paced plot is an intriguing and entertaining quick read that gets the reader’s adrenalin pumping. The author describes the scenes with vivid imagery and details that capture the reader’s imagination and the compelling characters are easily related to and leave the reader wanting to know more.
The attraction between Ayden and Deirdre starts off with red hot sex and continues to sizzle with steamy passion as the couple gets to know each other. The author brings the characters to life with vibrant details that ensure that the reader gets caught up in the story. Deirdre and Ayden both have emotional turmoil to deal with along with the current situation that adds depth to the story.
The tension builds as the case draws to a close and the author throws in quite a few surprises that the reader doesn’t see coming. I really enjoyed how the author managed to turn the table on the bad guy and keep the reader in the dark, I mean I was beginning to think that Ayden wasn’t that good of a DEA agent until the very last chapter and then the big reveal had me sitting back and saying “why, that smart little bugger,” and I like how she ended their book in the happily ever after part as well. Overall, I found the book to be a enjoyable quick read and this author’s book one to keep a look out for.
