The story is really quite good, and it's nice to see they brought back the characters from the first book. However, in knowing that Heather Graham is a best selling author, you would think that someone would edit this book for her. It's not super horrible, but it is very annoying when simple punctuation is missing, letters are missing from words, or a simple word is missing from a sentence. Due to this I dropped my review to 3 stars because I know someone should have edited this for her.
I bought this book without reading carefully the description and reviews. I do not care for vampire stories. I've read and enjoyed other Heather Graham books and I did not know she had a vampire series. Since I bought the book, I read it, and will try to review it without my prejudice against the vampires. It wasn't a bad book. The characters were fairly interesting and it was well written although the editing was practically non existent...You really had to give some thought to decipher some sentences and have it make sense. That was distracting. I do agree with other reviewers that it was slow, repetitive and boring in some parts. For those fans of this subject, it was an OK book I guess although I do not have a base of comparison.
Anyone else who read this book think maybe the characters are kind of stupid? How smart do u have to be to listen to you gut when u feel something is wrong or put two and two together and realize the guy who gives u the creeps should not be the one you invite in your home? I am kind of disappointed in Ms Graham not only did this book leave me feeling like slapping the characters but it was quite gory not that I think all vamps r romantic but it is a romance novel! If this is ur first read with Ms Graham please don't think this is her best work 99% of her works are marvelous! It's why I always buy her I think this was an off day in her writing.
Jade MacGregor visits a cemetery in Scotland and gets the fright of her life. The dead wake and she almost ends up a victim.
Lucien is one of the oldest vampires and once was their king. He saves Jane and her tour group then disappears. While Lucien follows the ancient evil that has woken he is somehow attracted to Jane... perhaps she looks like his first love?
This is the story of Lucian, the king of the vampires who appeared in Beneath a Blood Red Moon. Lucian is trying to save Jade McGregor from an evil vampire from his past. Jade strongly resembles the wife that Lucian lost to the evil Sophia a millenium ago. He finds himself falling in love with her after she survives a massacre in a cemetery in Edinburgh. When the murderers follow her to New Orleans, so does he. This was an excellent novel. Lucian is much more human in this book and there is plenty of action and great new characters. Love this series.
I enjoyed the book as I do all of her books. This was the first vampire book I have read. What got to me though was the lack of good editing. There were a lot of grammatical and other errors like mixing up characters and it seemed like they just jumped to another part of the story without finishing with what they were in the middle of. But overall I enjoyed the book. I am now reading her latest book!
This is an ok book, not one of my favorites but fine to veg out with. Unfortunately the editing is very well poor, such as Jade saying she was going to rim up to see Rick. The errors take away from the enjoyment of the story.
I really enjoyed 'When Darkness Falls', more so than I enjoyed the first book of the trilogy - 'Beneath a Blood Red Moon'. 'When Darkness Falls' is filled with rivetting suspense, intense characters, and a sitting on the edge of your seat plot. I hated to put it down. Drake really shows her creative imagination in this one - her back story development on Lucian is fantastic. I also enjoyed her discussions of good vs. evil and all the gray matter in between. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves vampires, suspense, romance or just wants a great read!
