4.0 out of 5 stars Prineas Does it Again

Summerkin is an excellent book, even more so than Winterling. It had action, laughter on occasion and above all a very refreshing heroine. All the characters were very well formed and developed except for, unfortunately, our villain Aranthiel.Speaking of which, that should be a spoiler, since Aranthiel at first pretends to be a friend of Fer's but that not lasts for about two pages before Fer finds out who he really is.But WE don't. For one thing,Prineas kept hinting at the old,old age and "rotten core" that lay beneath Aaranthiel's surface. Which kept me eagerly waiting for the time when she'd reveal the whole backstory.but she never did,so...

On to my favorite part of the book...Rook's puck-brothers.Awesomeness but not quite, exactly as I like them. And by the end of the book they haven't become Fer's best buddies or puck-bodyguards either, which is good. However,I'm still hoping for maybe a closer relationship between our Lady and the pucks, especially Tatter, who seemed to take more of a shine to her than the others.

Now for Rook!! Okay..so I don't understand how the question of "are we friends or not" drags on till the end of the book and is STILL not resolved! Not only is it irritating but it puts us in an awkward position. Dies this mean that the conclusion of the trilogy will be "Rook and Fer have at last decided that they are friends." Or worse, will Prineas go all Collins on us and have Rook and Fer agree that it's not possible for them to be friends at all? Please, please don't let that happen.
I have a few requests for book 3:

1.please please please let Rook and Fer be friends at least-
2.please give us an awesome villain
3.please let us see phouka in person form
And...
4.pucks!give us more pucks!especially Tatter.Besides Rook he's my absolute favorite.

Summerkin is not as tightly written as Winterling. Nor does it have that dark-fairy-tale touch that made me obsess over Winterling.Still, this book is a great one. It's quite fresh and original unless you're a hard-core fantasy junkie who's seen all that before..(I used to be one,but I'm taking a break.)...and makes for a great story.Don't miss out.

The second book of the Winterlings series was just as AMAZING as the first one, I am going to download the third and final book tomorrow. ATTENTION: SO NOT READ THE NEXT LINE IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY READ THIS BOOK!
My only objective... I wish Rook stayed with Fer in the end.

This series should be made into movies so other people get to hear more about these books.

I love all of the books in this series. The main character, Fer, is brave and kind to animals. This story is so exciting that I had a hard time putting the book down! It helps if you read Winterling first, because that explains where Fer is and why. (My mom adds that it's a very clean book, both in the language and the story!)

Don't want to ruin it for you. But it is a great followup to Winterling. Sarah Prineas writes well to both children and adults and this series is no exception. I was wondering, at the beginning, if the book was going to be as good as Winterling. Shortly after that I was hooked.
